We finally managed to get the Time Lord changed and, afterwards, Mickey left me to my own devices in the bedroom. I perched on the end of the bed, waiting until Mum came back.

"Here we go. Tina the cleaner's got this lodger, a medical student, and she was fast asleep - so I just took it. Though, I still say we should take him to a hospital." She handed me a stethoscope.

"We can't. They'd lock him up. He's alien, remember? Even if I took him to Jack - which I doubt the Doctor would be ok with - he's still got protocols to follow that require... nevermind." I rambled slightly. Excusing passing out from the transmat, I hadn't slept since I'd fainted with Margaret. That was a long time ago and it was getting to my head. I had a really bad idea that I really shouldn't do - but lack of sleep clouded my judgement.

I pressed the cold metal to his clothed chest and listened to his heart beat, then moving it to the opposite side so that I could listen to the other one. "Both working."

"What do you mean 'both'?" Mum gawped at me.

"He's got two hearts."

"Oh, don't be stupid."

"He has."

She considered for a minute before coming up with yet another question. "Anything else he's got two of?"

"Mum! He might look asleep, but he can hear everything you say. Leave him alone." I took her arm and yanked her out of the room.

"How can he hear everything?" Mum continued with her interrogation.

"Don't know. It's just one of the many things on the list of advice that Melody gave me. When in a regeneration coma, the Time Lord is still aware of his surroundings." I recited. "Basically, don't have any private conversations in front of him."

The two of us went into the kitchen where Rose was busy making a cup of tea. "How can he go changing his face?"

My little sister looked at me. "Lil?"

"Regeneration. It's what it says on the tin. When he's about to die, all of his cells regenerate. He's got the same brain and memories, but different face and personality." I shrugged. "The big question is where did you get a pair of men's pyjamas from?"

"Howard's been staying over." Mum said as if I knew who Howard was.

"What, Howard from the market?" Rose's eyes narrowed. "How long's that been going on?"

"A month or so. First of all, he starts delivering to the door and I thought, 'that's odd'. Next thing you know, there's a bag of oranges-"

She was cut off by Rose running into the living room. "Is that Harriet Jones?" She exclaimed, shocked.
