"M-mom?" you stutter, ukai whips his head around to see your eyes start to water. "y/n let's go you don't need this right now" he says trying to turn you around and walk away.
"oh y/n..." your mom says hesitantly. you push ukai away from you. He stumbles back as you don't break eye contact with her. "wow you grew up to be so pretty" she tries. "no you're not gonna give me that shit. WHERE WERE YOU TO WATCH ME GROW UP?" you scream. "y/n i-" you cut her off "I DONT WANT FUCKING EXCUSES. YOU WERE NEVER THERE FOR ME AND NOW YOU MAGICALLY WANNA SHOW UP WHEN THINGS GET BETTER? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?" you scream. At this point the tears on your face are streaming and soaking into your jersey. "listen, i didn't want to leave.. things just h-happen-" she stutters. ukai just let's you yell your heart out as he starts to cry, hurting for you. "DO YOU KNOW HOW SHITTY MY CHILDHOOD WAS? EVERYONE GOT A HUG FROM THEIR MOM AFTER GETTING PICKED UP FROM SCHOOL OR A HOME COOKED MEAL WITH A NOTE FOR LUNCH, AND YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT I GOT WHEN I HAD TO WALK HOME? I GOT SHIT FOR EVERYTHING I DID, I HAD TO COOK MY OWN MEALS AT THE AGE OF 7, ARE U FUCKING SERIOUS? YOU DIDNT THINK TO COME BACK FOR ME? YOU WERE GONNA LEAVE ME FOR HOW LONG? HOW FUCKING LONG WERE YOU GONNA LEAVE ME THERE HUH" you scream in pain walking up to her and pushing her, "HOW FUCKING LONG?"
she starts crying, "im sorry i had another family to-" you hear footsteps from around the corner.
"WHAT ABOUT ME? IM YOUR FAMILY! I WAS YOUR FAMILY FIRST, YOU NEVER CAME BACK FOR ME WHY ARE YOU HERE" you yell pushing her again. "I HAD TO FUCKING SURVIVE ON MY OWN BECAUSE YOU DIDNT WANT TO BE THERE, YOU CHOSE TO LEAVE ME WITH THAT FUCKING PSYCHOPATH YOU CALLED A HUSBAND, YOU NEVER ONCE CARED TO GET ME OR CARE ABOUT ME, YOU PUT THAT ALL ON UNCLE UKAI" you scream pushing her again. arms wrap around you. "y/n..." you recognize the voice to be tsukkis but your vision is so blurry with tears that you cant make out his face. You push his arms away and run outside. You fall to the ground as you can feel your heart in the pit of your stomach. You scream and hit the ground in anger. "WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO FUCK UP MY LIFE SO MUCH" you scream out. "y/n? y/n are you out here?!" you hear tsukki yell. he finally finds you and crouches down to you. "hey, hey, hey, come here." he says in a soft tone. you break down into his arms. he rubs your back as you just cry all your emotions out. you both sit in comforting silence as you hold onto him and sob into his chest. "i don't know why she would show up today" you choke on your tears. "im sorry y/n, i really am" he says pushing your hair out of your face. "but you're so strong, i mean look at you, you've become one of the best volleyball players in the prefecture, the most caring girl i know, and the prettiest too, all on your own. you don't need her nor did you ever need her. Of course she should've been there but you got through it and you will get through it, i believe in you okay" he wipes the tears off your cheeks. you just nod your head as you try to stop crying. you're not used to crying in front of people so you're not sure how to respond. you hear ukai's voice. "y/n where did you go?" he yells out. "we're over here!" tsukki yells back. you rest your head on his shoulder as you wipe your face. "y/n im so sorry i didnt know she would show up-" he goes on. "it's fine i k-know you didn't know" you sniffle. he sits on the other side of you on the ground. you bring your head off tsukki's shoulder and turn to ukai. "tsukki could you go tell hinata to get on the court in replace of y/n. they're probably wondering why she isn't in there" ukai says in an exhausted tone. tsukki nods and gets up. "y/n i'll check on you later okay?" you nod as he goes off. "i didn't mean to push her i just-" you feel the tears coming back. "shh its okay" he pulls you in for a hug. "thank you for being here" you cry into his chest. he starts crying too. "s-she had a whole other family" you stutter. "she never told me about t-that, the sister i knew when we were kids is so far from who she is now, i don't know what happened to her" he chokes. you both sit and let the emotions flow out for a while.
*tsukkis POV*
I run down the hall towards the main gym. My mind is racing, I never knew how terrible y/n family was to her. Ukai is the only one that actually cares about her? And she only reunited with the dude less than a month ago. As soon as I get to the main gym I go to the bench. "tsukki where's coach? Also did you find y/n?" yams comes up and asks. "yams please hang on" I respond frantically. "woah- i got a please" yams says shocked. I ignore it and ask "where's shoyo?".
"you're using his actual name too, this is weird whats wrong? Also why is your jersey wet?" yams asks
"yamaguchi its seriously not the time where is he?" he says nothing and points to the group of karasuno girls trying to flirt with the players. I find hinata among the guys trying to pull tanaka away from the group of girls. "hinata come here" i grab his arm and pull him to the side. "you have to fill in for y/n, its a long story but the game starts in about 30 seconds i seriously need you to go switch yourself in right now" I say making it clear what he has to do. "wha-" is all he can manage to say before I push him towards the refs table. He starts talking to the refs and they nod. The game starts up again and I sit on the bench next to yamaguchi again. "tsukki whats wrong? you're way more serious than usual" he asks concerned. "just- i dont even know if im allowed to tell you, but y/n was really upset and so was coach. we have to win and get her home so she can relax" i say. "she was upset? I've never seen her sad oh my god is she okay? So your jersey is wet because of her?" he asks worried. "oh-" i look down and see the big wet stain on my jersey. "it's fine really, and yeah i guess so, i just really want to check up on her. she was yelling and it was like- i cant even explain it i even started crying a bit" i confess.
*back to your POV*
After about 20 minutes of crying and calming down coach asks if you want to go back in there. "i mean i kind of have to don't I" you say. "not if you don't want to. I can even take you back home if you want." he suggests. you shake your head. you know you've got to support your team especially during this important game. "no I have to help us win. this game is really important like you said before" you stand up and dust yourself off. "can i just go to the bathroom and freshen up before i go back?" you ask.
"of course you can y/n, I'll wait" and so he walks you down the halls to the ladys restroom. You go in [by yourself obvi] and look in the mirror. You've got red dots plastered around your face and puffy red eyes. You rinse your face off with cold water. *I've got this* you tell yourself, *you're okay*. you look back in the mirror. the red dots are dissapearing but your eyes are still puffy and red. You decide the sooner you get out there the sooner you can win and leave. You redo your pony tail and go back out. You wipe a stray tear off your uncles face and giggle. His eyes are puffy but not as puffy as yours. You both nod at eachother one last time before you enter the noisy gym. You both go to sit at the bench with the rest of the team. As you go to sit down u pass tsukki as he shoots you a concerned look. you softly smile at him to reassure him. After sitting down u lay your head on your uncles shoulder again and watch the game. "omg y/n-chan are you okay?" suga asks. "your eyes are really puffy :/"
"oh yeah, just some stuff happened but I'm okay! thank you for asking" you shoot him a fake smile although you feel exhausted from today. Hinata scores another point with his quick attack. Kageyama yells at him to be faster as he gets scared which makes you laugh. The score is 23-16 karasuno leading with 23, highline high losing with 16. the crowd is going crazy with each point hinata scores. You smile to yourself as you think *he's finally getting the attention he deserves*. The second quarter ends with another quick attack. Karasuno has won each of the rounds so far, and since there's no way for highline high to win, (there are only 3 rounds in a game of volleyball) the crowd goes wild. karasuno is back on the news and back in the conversation. Karasuno is going to become a powerhouse school once again. You get up and go cheer along with your fellow teammates. Ukai and the team get in a group hug and cheer on hinata and kageyama. You go up to noya. "hey, your receives were-" you try to say but he interrupts you "y/n are you okay your eyes are so puffy and i tried to look for you during the break but you weren't there and even though there was a group of girls there i couldnt find you and i tried looking for you but you werent here" he rambles. "noya, im okay something happened but seriously i am okay, i was gonna say your receives were amazing, youre the backbone of our team yk that?" you grin knowing your boosting his ego. he immediately goes from caring mode to cocky mode. "o-oh~ so that means you wanna date me ;)" he tries. "yeah no thats not what it meant at all"
"eh worth a shot😔" he says. you giggle and go find tsukki. As everyones celebrating you pull him into the hallway. "hey, thank- wtf did i do that-" you say noticing his jersey. "oh this? yeah its pretty nasty dont u think?" he grins. "yeah yeah who would do that definitely not me 🙄💔" you say sarcastically. "but seriously, thank you for being there, I really appreciate how you came and looked for me and you just sat there with me. that means a lot"
"of course shorty, i would never wanna leave you alone especially when you're feeling like that, that was so shitty of her" he says. you nod and were about to walk back to the group when he pulls you back. "hey, did you want to come over after the game? I just want to distract you from everything going on and make you feel better. I know you've giggled a few times but it just doesn't feel genuine, i can tell when you're not actually okay and especially since i know what happened" he suggests. you blush and agree. "i think coach would be fine with that so yes please that would be so much more fun than sulking in my room" you kiss him on the cheek and walk back out the the group. "here y/n i grabbed your stuff we're getting back on the bus" yamaguchi says and holds out your bag. "thank you yams <3" you say in a sweet tone. "hey how come u dont talk to me like that" tsukki scoffs. you giggle and switch ur tone to ur regular voice again. "because ur a whore" u respond. "HEY-" tsukki says. yamaguchi just laughs at tsukki while he tries to chase you. "AHHHH HELP" you yell and hide behind daichi. "oh hey daichi you killed it out there- JHAKFJD HIDE ME" you giggle. "thanks y/n and dont worry i got you" he chuckles and flashes a big smile. You get chased all the way to the bus and pick one of the seats all the way at the back. "AH SEE IM SAFE OUT OF UR REACH" u yell once tsukki finds you. "yeah yeah scoot over shorty" he says and plops himself next to you. you both throw your stuff on the seats across from you two. "can i take a nap on you?" he asks. "yeah i need a nap too" you respond. he then lays his head on your lap and puts his feet out on the other seat where your stuff is. he takes off his glasses and sticks them in his pocket. you play with his hair until you hear his soft snores. you giggle and lay your hand over his chest and fall asleep against the window.
