I wake up with a start, my heart is beating fast. I hit my head on the ceiling.
There is yelling outside. Whoever it is sounds familiar.. I sprang from my bed, and look out through my small circular shaped window above my desk.
It's my father, my mother and my little sister Rose.
Rose is screaming. Mother is trying to choke back her tears and calm Rose, and father is talking angrily to a stout man with a angry look on his face.
What is happening?
Why is this man here in the mere hours of the morning at our cottage?Suddenly the man starts marching towards our house. Father is trying to stop him from coming closer but the man just pushes him out of the way.
What do I do? Do I hide? Do I scream for my parents? Do I pretend to be asleep?
I step out of my room, my whole family is now in the main room with the man talking in hushed voices, I can't get a lot out of what they are saying.
They all turn and look at me.
My parents freeze and stare at me with a look so full of fear, that I freeze where I'm standing.
The man frowns and growls angrily. He comes at me, I dodge him and rush towards my parents. My mother embraces me holding me close.
My sister is still whimpering."Give me the girl." The man says snarling.
Me? Why does he want me? What have we done wrong?
"No, you cannot take her." My father states holding his ground.
"You now what will happen if you don't give me the girl, the wife is pregnant and will be of no help to us, and the young one is simply just to young, but she right there." He points to me. "Is perfect."
I gulp, a single tear runs down my face.
I step forward though, not wanting to know what will happen to my family if I do not go with this man.My father grabs me by my wrist and pulls me back, "No Delphia."
I struggle out of his grip and walk towards the man. "If I must go I will."My mother starts crying not trying to hold back her tears anymore.
My father angrily comes at the man ready to put up a fight. I step between them. " no father I will be fine, leave me be."With that the man grabs me by my wrists and directs me out of the house.
I look back only once to see my family all standing outside, just as the sun is coming up, all crying and all clinging to each other.
