In Alice's ever so humble opinion, boredom was the worst torture of all. Yes, she could go do something, but that would require movement and that went against Alice's life goal of using the minimum amount of energy as possible.

So now she had resorted to staring out of the window at other people. That had grown boring quickly but she had stayed when she saw a dog coming down the street and she would swear it was the most adorable dog she had seen in her entire life.

Overall, she was bored, tired, and highly lazy. And her day could get worse when she heard the door open and in came her least favourite person of all time. "You know it's polite to knock before entering." She called back over her shoulder.

"Then I suppose you know it's polite to face someone when you're talking to them," he replied, his tone full arrogance and self entitlement. God she hated his stupid face, and his stupid personality, and his whole stupid existence.

Not even bothering to hide her eye roll, pretty safely assuming he wouldn't see it, she responded, wanting him gone. "Then I suppose it's a good thing I won't be talking to you."

At this point she could practically hear him gritting his teeth. It didn't take much to annoy Luther and one backhanded comment like that would set him off. You see, Luther wasn't used to facing anyone say anything that he didn't like. He had everyone wrapped around his finger. His charming, charismatic, golden-boy persona that everyone got to see had people practically eating out of the palm of his hand. It's how he got away with so much, and how he got so much. There is no way he would have become his football captain if he hadn't been charming the coach since he could talk. There is no way he would be top of his classes if he hadn't been sweet-talking his teachers since tests were invented.
And he wouldn't be at those national martial arts competitions if he hadn- actually he was a little bit good at that. But she was pretty sure she had done something to the coach to get him to put him in the competitions, because while he's good, there are others that are way better.

"You seem to forget that a functioning relationship takes good communication."

And there it was. The relationship card. A very messy situation. Alice couldn't even stand Luther's presence so how could they be in a relationship? Well, it all started back when Alice was young and naïve. She was still blinded but his persona, and when you're 5 you think you're the coolest if you had a boyfriend. The workers at the orphanage had all thought it was adorable and now with fear of any form of conversation with them about it, and not even knowing how to, they had never broken up. There were other reasons but Alice preferred to not think of those, questioning the sanity of an 13 year old boy who acted as he did.

Oh yes, you did read that right; orphanage. Where Alice had been since she could remember. She'd even been named by the workers there: Alice because "it just felt right" apparently, and Heart because of her heart-shaped birthmark right over her heart. Well, heart with a crack down the middle, almost in the shape of a lighting bolt. Plenty of workers made fun of her being a "heartbreaker" for that. And Alice got to choose her own middle name, but being who she is, she made the fundamentally stupid choice to let the other kids in the orphanage pick for her. Except she then felt bad for not picking their choice or choices so now she has 30 middle names (some of the younger kids picked 3 or 4 choices). She decided recently that she would have to cut down on it and was already looking at fun anagrams. But that's not the point. The point is, she lives in the orphanage which Luther also happens to live in, which means "yay" more fun time together for them. And I know what you're thinking, if Luther is so charming, how come he hasn't been adopted. Alice likes to think it's karma for being a prat, but in reality, nobody really wants to adopt anymore.
