"Professor Snape, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"A pleasure, I'm sure Miss Heart." His tone was dull and flat. And now she could feel some level of dislike towards the man with his uninterested look.

Alice gave him a scathing look over again and it seemed he was doing the same. As much as she can admit to dressing mostly in black, she definitely isn't as bad as whatever dungeon this bat crawled out from. He took the dark and edgy look too far. She found it hard to believe he was a professor. "So professor, what did you study?"

"A very advanced and experimental branch of chemistry, I shan't bore you with the details. I doubt you'd be all that interested," he replied. He opened his mouth to say more but the way Alice saw it, that was a mark against her intelligence, and there is no way she would stand for that.

"So, Mr Snape, where did you study?"

"I studied at private university in the North."

"Oh, never heard of them. Do tell me more would you. I would love to hear more about both your university and your course."

"At a later date. However, my education isn't what I'm here to discuss. I'm here on the matter of yours." The Professor seemed to be gritting his teeth, and despite his emotionless facade, Alice could very clearly pick up on his annoyance. Normally she would revel in the feeling, but she was too confused about the conversation change to enjoy it right now; and that frustrated her no end. "You have been offered an exclusive scholarship to a boarding school for talented students."

"Isn't that amazing Alice! A scholarship! Apparently all that you need to pay for is the supplies. Oh it's just so wonderful! Congratulations dear." Oh yes, Mrs Brown. She had almost forgotten about her. But of course the positive energy she was radiating was practically overpowering and she could see her bouncing excitedly on the balls of her feet.

Snape could barely contain his sneer and in the nicest tone he could manage - which it turns out is his normal tone - he turned to her, "Mrs Brown, could you excuse Miss Heart and myself for a second to talk over the course and expectations."

He maintained his cold gaze at her, eventually having to lift one of those dark eyebrows at her so she would get the message and leave. After too long, she finally mumbled out some excuses, cracking under the professor's harsh look, and took her leave. Although Alice could still hear her listening at the door. Snape seemed to sense this too as he pulled out a stick of wood and mumbled what sounded like Latin under his breath, while pointing his stick towards the door. A few seconds later and Alice could hear a grumbling Mrs Brown walking away down the hall.

"Wow, could you teach me to do that? I've never been able to get her to leave me alone," Alice commented with a new sense of glee and excitement.

The man simply scowled, pulling a letter from a hidden pocket within his robes, before handing it over. "I have been asked to personally deliver this to you, as well as assist you in your trip to buy your school supplies. I am here to answer any questions you may have, unless you are simply being unintelligent."

Alice took the letter uncertainly. The first thing that struck her was it was written on parchment. The next thing was that it had a wax seal keeping it closed. And the third thing was beautiful calligraphy-like writing it was all done in. Overall it carried an air of sophistication; something very unfamiliar to Alice and completely out of place in the current setting.

And now after reading the letter, Alice did have more than a few questions. Well, she had always known she was different; she could see this coloured haze around people that she just assumed was their aura, and she could feel what someone else was feeling and almost grab it as it hung in a fog around them; grab it and transfer it, and with enough work, even change it. She had always also had some level of innate knowledge, knowing the answers to questions she never even thought about but unfortunately, she never knew what would happen in the future, meaning that she hadn't become a brilliant gambler. Although that gift did have its limitations in that it couldn't tell her everything and it would never tell her anything about herself. All she knew was that she was Alice "too many middle names" Heart (although if asked, she goes by Alice Pandora Heart. Probably one of her favourite middle names chosen by a girl going through a mythology phase), she was born April 1st 1980, and now she was apparently a witch. So yes she had a few questions, the first being along the lines of WHAT THE FUCK?
