"Oh fuck-"
"He's gaining!"
"Take a left here! There's some stairs we can lose him down!"
"Remus, lie down!"
"What?"
"We'll be more streamlined!"
"Here we go!"
"Ah shit-"
"Fuck-"
The bed clattered down the stairs, more screams from the occupants following it. With each step, the bed would shake and jostle and the old metal bars would creak under the pressure. Miraculously, they made it to the bottom, Filch merely a speck on the horizon.
As they evened out again, James hopped off, dragging 1 foot across the floor, forcing them into a sharp left turn down a corridor. They all cheered as the momentum from the bed going down the stairs carried them forward at a rapid pace.
But then a figure appeared at the end of the corridor. A figure none of the group were particularly happy to see. But they were going too fast and no matter what they attempted, they continued rolling down the corridor towards her.
Eventually they did manage to break, but only a few paces away from the figure who stood patiently waiting them. Peter waved at them, a large grin across his face as he didn't seem to realise the trouble they were in. "Hi Minnie."
She scowled at them, looking over her glasses at the group. "Why is it always you 4? And Miss Heart, why are you with them?"
"Ah, it's a crazy story, really Minnie. You see, I'm on bed rest (as you ordered) and then these ragamuffins-"
"RAGAMUFFINS!" An enraged Sirius interjected. Leaning into James, he whispered, "What does ragamuffin mean?"
"No idea." James muttered back, his eyes fixed on Alice, watching her talk with McGonagall.
"-came storming in and I was helpless to stop them. Turns out they wanted to show Remus the sunset but he couldn't leave his bed so they were taking him to it when this wasp came out of nowhere, and as you know Peter is deathly allergic-"
"It's true. I have blood like honey and they just want a taste, but alas, it is forbidden nectar."
"-so we were running away because leave no man behind. And I'm here to keep them under control and because I was bored on bed rest but I'm technically still on a bed and resting so I don't see the issue."
McGonagall just raised an eyebrow at her, looking thoroughly unimpressed. "I see now why you are their friend."
Alice just grinned, oblivious to the hidden insult. Although that grin soon faded as she heard uneven steps galloping towards them and the distinct ringing of a bell. The boys had heard it too, each stiffening up.
"Professor McGonagall, I demand punishment for this group of delinquents!" He pulled his hair back to reveal a bell dangling loosely from his ear. "Look at what they've done to me! An' I can't get it off!"
Sirius snickered quietly causing James to go through a range of facial expressions as he tried to stop himself from laughing. They both straightened up when they caught the stern look from McGonagall but amusement was still visible in their eyes.
