The next few days went by in a flash. One day I woke up, and it was Christmas eve.
Hermione, Ginny, Luna and I went shopping in Hogsmede and got the perfect dress. And I mean perfect.
I jumped out if bed and threw on some temporary clothes. The best thing about today, was that I didn't have to persistently avoid all males that look at me funny.
I skipped to the dining hall and made a stop at the Slytherin table to say hello to Draco.
I could feel many eyes on me as I walked to Draco's side. He had a grim expression on and was holding his head in his hands.
"Malfoy?" I asked, concerned. I still was not going to give him the benefit of first-name basis. His eyes flickered to me as soon as he heard my voice.
I took a seat next to him, shoving Blaise aside.
"I'm sorry Y/N..." Draco trailed off. I put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"What's wrong?"
"I-"
Suddenly Pansy Pugface was in front of me.
"Drakey-poo!" She exclaimed in disgust. I rolled my eyes at the pet-name given to Draco.
"Look." Pugface said ad she slammed her hands in front of me. I heart Blaise scoff and could basically hear Draco roll his eyes.
"I don't know if my beloved has told you yet, but he doesn't belong to you. He never has and he never will." I looked at her, confused as ever.
What was she getting at?
She rolled her eyes at me.
"YOUR. NOT. GOING. TO. THE. BALL. WITH. HIM." She screeched.
I put two and two together. Pansy threatened Draco.. and that's why he can't go with me.
I totally ignored the fact that the golden trio was shooting me concerned and betrayed looks, and the fact that a certain Hufflepuff heart-throb was getting up from his seat.
I rolled my eyes back. Rather then feeling betrayed or upset, I was just annoyed with Pugface.
I took my seat back with Draco and gave him an understanding look.
"I'll see you later, Draco." I got up from my seat and decided I wasn't hungry anymore.
A walk would feel really nice right now.
I walked the long corridors and breathed in the cold air. At this point I couldn't help the tears from coming.
I backed myself up onto a wall and slid down and I gasped for air.
I know I didn't need a date, I just really, really wanted one. I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic. (Sorry if you're not)
Yup, that's what I am, hopeless. Completely and utterly hopeless.
Suddenly I heard footsteps. I sniffled and cleaned under my eyes to maybe help the look that I hadn't been crying, but deep down inside I knew it was no use.
I got up and tried to run in the other direction of the footsteps, but my identification of sound proved to be very poor, as I ran right into someone.
I looked up at the tall, bulk figure and sighed. He would never hurt me like this. Even if it wasn't Draco's fault, no one would actually threaten Cedric.
I couldn't help myself. I felt another wave of sorrow take control of me and threw myself at Cedric. I hugged him tighted and he out a comforting hand on my back.
We stood there in a hug for a moment before Cedric spoke up.
"Y/N, will you go to the Yule Ball with me?"
