Two Heroes and an Unexpected Romance

Chapter 7: The Hero's Quest(Canon)

We return with our heroes in peril. Two of Eleven's friends were captured and turned against him, lead by Joker. Eight stepped in to make it a fair fight. Upon exiting Eleven's mother's house, they begin the battle. A Stamina Battle!
A voice in the distance can be heard, saying "3, 2, 1...Go!"
"You might want one of these—" Eight took out two misty orbs from his other pocket. They flew into Eleven's and Link's body, powering them up
"Woah. This feeling it's,"
"Spirits?" Said, Link.
"Ha. I see I wasn't the only who came prepared"
Joker did the same thing, giving spirits to Solo and Arusu, boosting their power as well. As soon as this happened, Solo rushed at Eleven with Increases Speed. Fortunately, Eleven reacted to this sudden attack. Eleven grabbed Solo and threw him at Joker, missing. Joker's spirits also allow him to move faster. Eight and Arusu attacked each other at the same time, causing their swords to clash. Arusu was just a bit stronger and pushed Eight back. Link threw his boomerang at Joker, but he swiftly dodged again.
Joker then went after Eleven, swinging his dagger like a mad dog. Eleven evaded left, right, and guarded himself with his shield. Meanwhile, Eight went to Solo this time and managed to hit him a couple of times. Eleven was still busy with Joker, so he kept on the pressure against Solo. But then, Arusu appeared behind Eight after just using Invisibility. He was about to him with Hatchet Man, but Link grabbed him just in time. He threw Arusu up and slashed at him with his sword, dealing more damage than usual
"Yes! I have a Spirit Advantage!"
The situation was the opposite for Eleven, as Joker slashed him a few times and he took extra damage as well...
"Ack! Dammit!"
Eight quickly turned around, opened his menu, and used Sizzle against Joker. He dealt a special kind of extra damage to him
"!"
What Joker was not prepared for is that Eight is using the Galeem Spirit's power. This allows him to deal more damage to Dharkon controlled Spirits or possessed fighters. While Joker was distracted from shock, Eleven casts the Woosh spell, sending them both upward. Link quickly reacts and shoots an arrow at him, hitting. Eight went back to dealing with Solo and Arusu. He charged up a Zapple and successfully struck them both. Eleven tried attacking Joker again, but he dodged and landed back on his feet.
"You're gonna have to try harder than that, Luminary"
Suddenly, Joker felt something hit his head
"What the—"
A Capsule has fallen from the sky. It broke open, released a Pokéball, and was soon grabbed by Eleven
"You forgot one thing, Kurusu"
He threw the Poké Ball on the ground, releasing Suicune
"I am the master of what people call "Casual" these days"
Link on the other hand was in a bit of a pinch. He kept defending himself from a Fire Flower with his shield but hasn't found an opportunity to strike yet. Eight grabbed a Pitfall and threw it at Solo. He blocked it with his shield, and the Pitfall went into the ground instead
Joker was in a panic and used Rebel's Guard from habit. He, unfortunately, wasn't able to guard through its attack and was frozen for a few seconds. Eleven used this opportunity and charged a Forward Smash. Thinking it wouldn't do much against a Spirit Disadvantage, he managed to land a Critical Hit, shattering the ice around him. Just when they thought they were winning, a rainbow-colored aura emits around Joker.
"Ravage them!"
He hits Eleven, Link, and Eight in one go, but also accidentally hit Arusu
"It's too late for apologies!"
Eleven took the most damage of the four, with Link taking the least from his Spirit Team's higher defense
"Ugh.."
"Hang in there, honey. We'll pull threw this"
Joker twitches
"Kh!"
"Oh, I'm sorry. I must have struck a nerve"
Then Joker was furiously attacking Link. He was being reckless and made so many mistakes that let Link slash at him. Eleven helped Eight with Solo and Arusu. Eleven has the same spirit type as them, so there is no advantage one way or the other.
After some time, Arusu and Solo were defeated. Link was struggling against Joker, suffering multiple slashes and stab wounds. His defense was no match for Joker's speed. Eight and Eleven both cast Sizzle, hoping to time it right. Unfortunately, they both hit Link and Joker with the Sizzles.
"If you think this is some form of 'justice', you're in the wrong. You're simply jealous of me"
"What.."
Joker was furious
"People adore me. I've saved countless lives and slew armies. Even before you were born. You simply wish you were me. Is that it? Huh?"
"I've had enough of this!"
He pulled a quick maneuver behind Link and held his gun up to his head. They were both at very low HP
"I didn't want to do this. I don't. But I can't let you keep Link. And if I can't have him, no one can"
"I think you've gone insane. You've gone too far by invading this realm. Let alone being able to on your own. Tell me the real reason you want Link so bad. He chose Eleven to be his one and only. Forcing a situation like this won't help anyone. We can just as easily defeat you right now. But that comes with risk..."
Eleven is thinking to himself about the situation
"Well? What's it gonna be, Luminary? Either you let me have him, or I take him down here and now."
Out of complete nothingness, a yellow-colored portal began to form and open
"Huh?" Joker was confused
"Eight..."
"Y-Yeah?"
"What is that?"
"Ahaha," he said nervously, "It's a long story. But you're gonna have to trust me on this"
The portal grows larger and larger. Fighters from the entire Smash Roster began walking through. Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, all the pure-hearted and legends that fight for the good of all people appeared. But it didn't stop there.
"I managed to gather a team. And a big one"
More characters that appear as assist trophies or guest characters were stepping through as well. Spring Man, Zero, The Squid Sisters, Kapp'n, Ryuji, and more silly ones like Vince and Dr. Kawashima. Some spirits arrived, but with their original bodies. One very shocking appearance were characters coming from universes that aren't currently represented in Smash Brothers. Kazuma Kiryu was a shining example
"Hey. I heard you were in trouble. You called the right man"
"So tell me again, Akira Kurusu. Who's the one handing over Link?"
Joker was stunned unsure what to do. He was ready to pull the trigger on his gun. Then he remembered something. He just stood there. He started to laugh hysterically
"You think you can get help from your so-called god of light and win the day? Expecting the good guys to win the day? AHAHA! Don't you know good guys finish last? Two can play at this game"
A dark, purple portal opened behind Joker. Evil hearted fighters and villains appeared. Ganondorf, Bowser, the Koopalings, K. Rool, and more. Some evil assist trophies and guest characters appear as well. But something was quite different from other characters. Some heroic characters were working for Dharkon against their will. Their purple eyes give it away easily. All the evil characters that went through the portal were uncontrolled. They willingly joined Joker's side. Other characters from universes unseen in Smash appeared as well. Goro Majima is there, and arrives from the same world is Kiryu
"If it isn't Kiryu-chan. Looks like I have another reason to fight you~"
"I've done my homework too. I've gathered the meanest and most ferocious baddies in Video Games. Now. I will ask again"
He twitches again
"Can I keep Link?"
Eleven still thinking, nods his head on what he's going to do. Joker got the wrong idea and used his little trick to try and shoot Eleven instead. He was prepared,  blocked the bullet with his shield, and cast Bang in a panic. Link moved his head to try and dodge, but the blast radius was enough to hit them both. Link and Joker fall to the ground. Cut. Bruised. Exhausted. Another voice could be heard in the distance...
"Game!"
"Oi. What did you do, kid?"
"Oho! What does it look like, Kiryu-chan? He straight killed 'em. Look at these dummies"
He poked his bat at them
"Our job isn't exactly done yet. We'll be taking them if you don't mind~"
"No. Dammit!" Eleven was frustrated. He didn't have a choice
"Oh, what's wrong, boy? You're gonna bitch about your little boy toy and hitman flopping over?"
"That's enough, Majima-san"
"Ha. I don't think so, Kiryu-chan~"
"We'll be taking Link with us. Unless you're not going down without a fight"
Eight's legion was ready to battle. Some Pokémon arrived at the scene. Joker's legion was full of strong characters as well.
Eleven readied his sword
"If it's a fight you want," he swung at Majima "It's a fight you'll get"
The ground suddenly shook. Everyone that was in the Dragon Quest realm was transported to Smash realm on a large battlefield. This was to prevent the destruction of Cobblestone.
Majima of course dodged the attack before the transportation. He put his bat away and took out his little sword.
"Yes! This is what I want! To fight!"
"You have a real problem..." Eight said
"Just ignore Majima. I'll take care of him"
Everyone got themselves ready. One large army against another. One fights for good. The other fights for evil. All in the name of true love amongst the young heroes. What will happen to Link? Is he, along with Joker, really down for good? The fate of his lover is in his hands
