Hello guys, this is my first wattpad book. I started writing this when I was 15 and never really showed it many people, but after spending my quarantine reading many stories, I decided to post it! I really hope you guys like it!
Thank you!

I hate changing schools. Most of all, I hate changing states.
I already had so many friends in my old school. My friends were great and I'd spent some of my best years in that school. I was friends with most of the people in my class. Sure, I'll still talk to them and text but hanging out wasn't an option because I'd just moved to the other side of the United States! To be more precise, Luanacris Beach, a small city most of my friends didn't even know existed. However, when I said it was Florida, all of them kept telling me how lucky I was to move to here. All I really wanted was to stay in a place where I didn't have to make new friends. Not that I don't like new friends, it's just that I'm quite shy so I find it hard to meet new people.
Yet again, I was changing school, this time to Laughlin High School. I must have changed school five times already, although the last school was my favorite.
However, I needed to be positive. I hope this city is modern, and that it doesn't have a lot of old buildings and I might not find so many ghosts. Yeah, I see ghosts. Since I was six, I can speak see and touch ghosts. It's cool but, I wish I could find another I- can- talk-to-ghost kind, I mean, it'd be so nice to have someone who could help you to try and convince the ghosts that it's time they moved on. Someone who you could tell how you feel when you're grounded for one month because you were helping a ghost and your parents think you are vandalizing properties.
I really hope to stay in this school at least until I graduate. Luckily, it won't be long; I'm already in junior year.I woke up twenty minutes ago and still didn't know what to wear. You know, first impressions are always important.
It was going to be quite a hot day, so I chose my black jeans shorts, with my white and pink shirt and my pink sweater (in case it gets cold) and a black All Star. My hair is kind of strange so letting it lose is the best option. It was no use trying to make a nice hairdo, I knew it wouldn't stay. I looked at the mirror, I looked good, my curls hanged loose on my back and my brown skin had a light tan from the weekend I spent bathing in the sun.
I was already running late so I only had time to drink cup of orange juice and grab a cheese sandwich to eat while I walked to school. There it was, the new school. It was just like any other school I've already been to. I looked around and started to feel a little nervous that I was running late; there weren't many people outside the classes. The best way to start in a new school is to be late, I thought sarcastically to myself.
The school was gigantic. Most of it was white which made the school seem brighter. In the entrance, there were these glittery welcome back posters, which I thought were very cute. There were also these tables full of pamphlets about extra class activities you could do after school. My old school wasn't that welcoming, there would be just a list of people that would be in your home room and a list of who flunked, not that there were many. Everyone before seeing what home room they were in, always went to see the 'black list'. That is what we used to call it. I didn't like the idea of exposing that way the students who failed.
I needed to try to find my class. I already had my schedule; they e-mailed it to me a week ago, but first I had to go to the principals' office (don't ask me why). I didn't know where the principal's office was so I would have to ask someone for directions. As I turned the corner I saw some girls, finally someone I could ask.
They were talking very close to each other. I approached them and hoped they noticed me. 'Excuse me, do you girls know where the principal's office is? I'm new here and I don't know how to get there.'
One of the girls just looked at me as if I were some kind of alien or something. There were three girls, all of them were wearing very stylish and what seemed to be very expensive clothes. They were all wearing miniskirts and one was wearing a very cool hat and their hairs were beautiful, (I wished I had that hair). I don't like judging a book by its cover, but I would say they were the popular ones or as my friend would call them, the plastics (she got it from the Mean girls movie). I could even say they came out of the movie.
'Of course. Go straight by this corridor then you turn left, then right and then left again.' she said smiling, then they walked off not giving me the chance to say thank you.
I start walking through the corridor. I went left, right then left, but I ended up facing this big dumpster. I can't believe it, they fooled me. Wow, that was lucky for the first day. Every time I moved to another school, I had bad luck on the first day.
I started walking back to see if I could find anyone else, when suddenly a boy bumped into me with such force that I fell, hitting my back on the lockers. Like I said, a lot of luck.
'Sorry, I'm so sorry, are you all right? I didn't see you, are you okay? Sorry.' The boy said with a worried expression on his face.
'I'm all right, thank you for asking. In my old school they'd just say "watch out" and continue walking.' I said, trying to act cool. The boy just smiled (I noticed he had a very cute smile)
'Oh, it's the same here. I'm an exception.' He joked. 'Here; grab my hand.' I grabbed his hand, and with a pull, he helped me up. Not that I needed help, but before I knew it, I was already letting him help me. I hadn't even notice that I was still on the floor. His hands were soft and warm, but at the same time strong. Why do I notice these things?
'By the way, my name is Jake, Jake Scott. You're new here right? I know it because you are the only new girl in this grade.' he said. 'Just explaining, so you don't think I'm a stalker.' he explained.
'I'm the only new student?' I asked.
'Yeah, it's kind of weird. We usually have many new students, but I think parents don't move their children in the middle of high school. There were many new students in sophomore year.' He stayed quiet for a while. 'Sorry, what's your name?'
I kept staring at him for some seconds trying to absorb everything he had just said. How did he know I was the only new girl in this grade?
'Sorry.' He said noticing that I was silent. 'I'm talking too much.'
'No, it's fine. I'm Leila.' I said. 'Nice to meet you.'
'That's a very nice name, Leila.' He repeated.
I think no one ever said they liked my name, especially not on the first conversation. He seemed so oddly friendly. He talked to me as If we already knew each other.
'Thank you. Well, I need to go to the principal's office. Could you tell me how to get there?' I said, hoping he didn't notice how nervous I was getting.
'Of course. It's on the other side of the school. I can take you there if you want.'
'Well, thank you, you were the first person to be nice to me here in this school. I had asked some girls already, but I ended up here.' that was a stupid thing to stay, but I was never good at talking to boys, especially when it's my first day at a new school.
'Were they all wearing what seemed to be really expensive clothes?' he said as we walked through the corridors.
'Yes! How did you know? Were you there?'
'No, but it must have been Rebecca and her friends; their hobby is being mean to people.'
'Okay thank you for the warning.' I said, and then nobody said a word.
Jake was cute, very cute. He had thick black medium length hair. It was also messy (kind of scruffy), but it looked as if he woke up like that. He had very beautiful eyes; I got to see them when he helped me stand up. They were very green but with a hint of gray, which made them quite rare to find. The green in his eyes reminded me of an ocean on a cloudy winter day. Okay, he was super-hot. Well, my kind of hot. I don't think all my friends would agree with me, but what I liked most about him was his smile. It made me feel happy. I don't know why and I had just met him!
I still didn't know how he knew I was the only new girl in this grade, should I ask? I was so deep in my thoughts, that it took some time for me to realize that there was a ghost by my side.Heeey so this was the first chapter!! I don't even know if anyone will read this, but always see authors leaving a message at the end! Hope you enjoyed it. :)
