We entered his house as we were both still trying to calm ourselves down. My nerves calmed down more now that I knew Kaito was still here. I still kept one hand on his jacket and didn't let go. The small apartment was empty, which is why I was left at the door waiting. Kaito took a hold of my hand and we sat down on the brown couch in his living room. We both had so much to say, yet not a single word was said. We didn't know where to start.
"I went to go talk to Akiyama today." Kaito at last gawked. I was unprepared to hear this. Quite frankly, I was appalled. "You did..?"
"Yeah, I did. Eiichi, what I said and did was awful and I'm really sorry. I was just upset and-"
"No, I should be the one that's sorry." I hushed. "I know what happened.. With Yuzuki. Don't be mad, I was just told the story so that I could have a better understanding of everything. I was so selfish, and awful. I should've just talked to you, but instead I only thought of myself and how I would benefit from this.. I should've also thought of you. I never even bothered asking about things that have happened in your life." I pick at the zipper on my coat. "I'm really sorry."
"There was nothing wrong with wanting to have closure. I was glad that you started doing something for yourself. You've always put others above yourself no matter how hurt you were or how it brought you down. We both had faults in this, and I'm sorry too. I could've been a lot better but I just held it in.. to a point where all that was left was for it all to be too much and my entire being can't handle it." A silence fell between us.
"How about.. We promise to be better at talking to each other and live up to it?" I spoke up. "I don't want this to happen again." I wrap my arms around myself and try to stop myself from shaking again. Kaito must've noticed and replaced my arms with his. "I like that idea." I let myself sink onto him.
"Oh and also.. I love you, too Kaito."
I felt his heart beat faster. I change my focus to his face and see a new expression, it's difficult for one to explain. His eyes were shocked but soft, his cheeks were a flourished red, and his lips formed a smile that was both relieved and happy. I didn't know these eight words would be such a surprise as he was the one who said it first, but they were. I lean in and for the first time in what felt like eternity, our lips make contact. It then becomes a repeated action. Not another word was said, only kiss after kiss. And I allowed my person to lose myself to him.
