"Anyone else fancy a swim after dinner?" I asked.

Everyone came up with some kind of excuse, like 'early night', 'need to get my bag ready' or 'gonna watch a movie'.

Everyone except Annabeth.

She squeezed my hand and smiled at me, saying,

"Count me in, seaweed brain."

We got up and left after everybody else, and went upstairs to get changed.

I put on a pair of swimming trunks, and grabbed a towel out of the bathroom (it felt right, even though I knew I wouldn't need it) .

I went outside, to find Annabeth waiting in a plain black one-piece swimming costume, with a bare back, which hugged her curves nicely.

She had a grey towel slung over her shoulder.

"Come on wise girl," I said, pulling her into the elevator.

Once the doors closed, she leaned in and kissed me, her lips soft.

I smiled and returned the favour, my arms round her waist and her hands laced at the back of my neck, fiddling with a few strands of jet black hair.

There was a soft 'ding' as we reached the top floor and the open-air swimming pool.

We both stepped out, admiring the pitch black night sky.

The stars shined bright tonight. "Look, there's Zoë," Annabeth whispered to me.

I remembered the brave fighter, who died after a gash from Ladon the dragon and a fight with her father, Atlas.

We walked over to the swimming pool, and Annabeth slipped in gracefully, without a splash.

Naturally, I had to ruin the moment by cannonballing in, drenching my girlfriend in water.

Annabeth squealed, and I laughed.

She slapped me playfully, and chided,
"Way to ruin a romantic moment, Percy. Real smooth. Absolutely geniu–"

She didn't finish because I picked her up and lifted her over my shoulders.

She grinned, then threw herself backwards, and dived into the water from behind.

Her legs were still around my neck, therefore dragging me with her into the depths.

We both ended up underwater, and I created an air bubble so she could breathe.

"I love you seaweed brain," she said breathlessly.

"I love you too Wise girl, I said, leaning in. She wrapped her arms around me, and I did the same.

I pressed my lips onto hers, and she joined in. It was almost as good as our kiss in camp half blood, our first proper kiss.

Almost.

She pulled back, gasping for breath.

"We should be getting back," she sighed. I nodded, she was right.

We had a long day at school ahead of us, and it was already 23:00.

We really needed some sleep.

She slipped back out of the water, and I followed, pulling myself up.

She started drying herself with her towel, but I willed her dry.

She turned back and smiled lopsidedly at me.

I rested my arm around her shoulder and we walked back towards the elevator.

She nestled into my neck and I put my face in her hair, inhaling that comforting smell of pool chlorine.

We heard that familiar 'ding' and the doors opened.

She pecked me on the cheek and whispered, "Goodnight seaweed brain."

"Goodnight wise girl," I whispered back, and opened the door to my room, I had a quick shower and slunk into bed, falling asleep quickly.
