"Y/n." A familiar voice said as you laid sleepily in your bed at camp.
"Dana?" You asked, noticing You recognized the voice.
"Yes it's me." She told you.
You turned to face her. "What is it?"
"We have rehearsal in a bit." She reminded you. "Dad said wake up or he's sending you to Camp Wanakita."
"I wouldn't mind that..." You started. "But I am gonna get up."
"You wouldn't mind that?" She asked. "Do you have a crush or something?"
"Actually, yeah." You told her.
She smiled. You didn't crush on anyone other than fictional characters and celebrities. So when you liked an actual person, Dana was always excited. "Who is it?"
You hesitated, but started to tell her. "It's-"
The bell rang to start rehearsal.
"Sorry, Dana." You frowned. "I can tell you when we get a break."
The truth was, you had a crush on hate. Nate Gray. You know, the super cute, pretty smiled, curly headed boy apart of Connect 3? Yeah, him.
And if you knew any better, you'd say he liked you back. But sadly, you were completely oblivious. He only came across the lake when you were with Dana, and he never spoke to you directly. Honestly, he talked to Dana more than he talked to you. But, he started at you like he was in love.
Dana knew you liked Nate, and she knew he felt the same way about you. She had been trying to get you both alone together, but he was too nervous to be alone with you. Which is the reason he only visited when he knew Dana would be there too.
Once you and the other members of Camp Star finished your hour of rehearsal, you and your sister made your way to to the bench near the lake for your break.
"So." Dana started. "I'm ready."
"For what?" You asked, forgetting you promised to tell her who your crush was.
"Who's your crush from Camp Wanakita?" She asked.
"Oh." You could feel yourself starting to get nervous.
"Who is it?" She asked.
You sighed. "Nate."
"Nate?" She questioned, pulling off the confused look.
"Nate Gray." You clarified.
She raised an eyebrow. "Connect 3?"
"Yeah." You told her.
"Oh really?" She asked, wearing a goofy smile.
"Yes ma'am." You smiled back.
"Wow, I think the two of you would be really cute together!" She exclaimed.
Your smile dropped. "I'm sorry, I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not."
"I'm so serious." She said. "I heard he wants to get to know you better."
You laughed hysterically, and she watched you in confusion.
"What?" She asked. "What is it?"
"Come on, Dana." You calmed down. "He only comes over when you're here, he only talks to you, how blind can you be?"
"No, Y/n." She said. "How blind can you be?"
You scoffed. "What do you mean?"
"He likes you." She told you. "He only talks to me to ask about you. He only comes over when I'm here because he's too nervous to be left alone with you, in fear of embarrassing himself. He states at you in admiration every time he sees you!"
You didn't believe this. "Why do you have to lie to me?"
"She's not lying." You heard a semi unfamiliar voice say.
You looked over to where the voice came from, and smiled.
It was Nate.
"She's not?" You asked.
"Not at all." He smiled.
"This is my cue to leave." Dana said softly as she got up and walked towards the Camp Star stage. Not before winking at you of course.
"Hi." He said to you.
"Hi there." You replied, slightly laughing.
"You're really pretty." He blushed.
"Thank you." You said. "You're even more adorable when you're blushing."
He tried to hide it. "I'm not blushing."
"You are, and that's okay." You said. "At least I can see that you actually like me, and I'm not about to get played."
"I'd never do that to you." He said. "Or anyone for that matter."
"That's a good thing." You smiled. "Generous, I like that." You thought of something to say next. "Tell me about yourself? I want to get to know you better."
"I was hoping you would." He smiled. He pulled his guitar from behind him, and started to play and sing softly.
"I am good at wasting time, I think lyrics need to rhyme. And you're not asking...but I'm trying to grow a mustache!"
You smiled as he continued.
"I eat cheese." He told you. "But only on pizza please! And sometimes on a homemade quesadilla...otherwise it smells like feet to me!"
You nodded your head in agreement. Cheese wasn't your favorite, but maybe because you were lactose intolerant.
"And I...I really like it when the moon looks like a toenail." He gave a goofy smile. "And I love it when you say my name!"
You thought about it, and realize you'd never said his name to him before. But you smiled anyways and enjoyed the song.
As the song continued, the bell rang, signaling the break was over. So he sped up the song as you were walking.
Once he finished, your dad was nearing your direction.
You quickly took the permanent marker that he was keeping behind his ear, and wrote your number on his arm with it.
"Call me and we can talk more."
He nodded, and quickly walked away before your dad reached the two of you.
You believed this could be the start of a beautiful relationship!
