Today was Tuesday. School was starting and everyone was pilling in the front door. I waited outside for school to start.
I could hear the distant rumble of music and roar of an engine. Dean pulled up in his impala, music blasting.
Sam got out of the car and waved at me. Dean waited in the car for the song to end. "Asia! I swear he has the worst taste in music!" Sam yelled.
I chuckled. The song finished and Dean came out. "I'm sorry, what were you saying Sammy? I couldn't hear you over the music?"
Sam rolled his eyes at Dean's joke. Sam hurried off into the school building, Dean however, stayed exceedingly close to me.
"I'm surprised you're not too cool for me." I teased and he looked at me funny.
"Why would I be too cool for you?" He asked in response. Did he really not notice? He was the beautiful jock, the one all the girls fell for.
I was the nerdy kid who was forgotten by everyone. I was looked past, unwanted, socially unacceptable.
The bell rang and I walked into the school. Dean followed me. We had math together.
Everyone was getting seated. Dean sat in the front, which was where he always sat. I took my seat in the back, trying to block out all the rowdy classmates.
Some kid, I couldn't remember his name, came over towards me. He opened his big lips and I waited for the verbally abusive words to roll off his tongue.
"Well, if it isn't the little Faggot." He chuckled at his own joke. I knew he was a part of Dick's crew of assholes.
I payed no attention to him and looked at my phone. "Don't ignore me Fag!" He yelled, anger welling in his voice.
I closed my eyes and tried not to soak in each of his awful words. I heard a loud bang and looked up to see what had happened.
The kid was on the floor in a fetal position. His nose was bleeding and he was whimpering silently. Dean stood over him.
Suddenly, the teacher entered and we all rushed back to our seat. The dumb teacher didn't suspect anything and no one was mentioning what had happened.
The rest of the morning went smooth. I didn't see Dean again, but nobody messed with me. Soon it was lunch.
I sat under the same tree I always did. I pulled out my sandwich and my book.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and looked up to see Dean. "Do you want to come sit with us?" He asked, pointing to a small group of teens.
I nodded and hesitantly followed him. Sitting at a small table was, Sam, and a girl with bright red hair like my sister's.
I took a seat and Dean introduced me. "Cas, this is Charlie. Charlie, this is Cas." She said hi and I mustered out the same response. I suddenly felt very shy.
"What are you reading?" Charlie asked upon seeing the book I was holding.
I handed her the copy and she examined it. "It's a really good book." I said. She smiled.
There was a brief silence which was once again broken by Charlie. "So, you're Dean's boyfriend?"
For some reason, this didn't embarrass me, probably because it was turning into a recurring question. Dean was turning bright red. This Charlie girl reminded me a lot of Bethany.
I answered for Dean. "It's complicated." She rolled her eyes at me.
"I"m not judging you. I think it's cute. What should we call them?" She and Sam chuckled. Dean didn't seem as entertained.
"I don't know Charlie." Sam said. "Deanstiel?" She shook her head at that, making a face that suggested she didn't like it.
She smiled even brighter now. "How about Destiel?" Sam nodded and I had to admit, it had a nice ring to it.
Dean was flushed, he seemed seriously upset. "Oh cheer up Dean." Charlie said. "You just have to admit that you're into guys. After that, it's easy. Trust me, I would know."
So, did that mean Charlie was into girls? I figured it did. God, she would be perfect with Bethany. I've got to introduce them, I "ship" them.
The bell rang and we scurried off to class. All seemed good, I felt great.
A/N The next couple of chapters are going to be Dean's POV. Just thought I'd explain in advance. Feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
