"GODDAMMIT!"
The loud sound of glass shattering made you flinch, turning your head from Shoto's. Loud laughter came from the other room making you sigh, glad that nothing was wrong. Shoto's head was now in your hair, probably outcome of being disappointed not to kiss. He didn't want you to see how flustered his face had become.
You wondered what would have happened if nothing were to interrupt the two of you. There was no way to know now. The yelling had broken the mood, causing you to now be distracted by what was going on in the other room instead.
"We should go see what that was," You said, pulling away from Shoto's grasp that had turned limp.
Shoto nodded, looking shy as he was unable to meet your eyes again. You were first to starting walking to the other room. You were a bit rattled by the situation that had just happened between you and Shoto, but at the same time it was hard to comprehend that had just occured.
"Is everything okay?" You asked when you reached the doorway of the living room. One of the plates from dinner had been dropped to ground with Natsuo and your mom trying to scoop them all together. They were laughing at the same time making you relieved it wasn't something too serious.
"We were trying to put stuff away and your mom is so clumsy, Y/n," Miss Todoroki couldn't finish her sentence fully without laughing.
"Oh, shut up, Fuyumi," Your mom was laughed and it was obvious she was very embarrassed. You looked to Endeavor who was sitting on the couch, unamused with the whole situation which you thought was pretty funny.
"Natsuo's going to give us a ride home, Y/n," Your mom said, getting the rest of the shatters.
Your stomach suddenly dropped when reality hit you, "We're leaving?" Right. You almost forgot you couldn't stay here forever.
"It's getting very late, I don't want to be much of a burden to the Todorokis," Your mom handed you some of the empty dishes from dinner, which Shoto helped with as well.
"Awh, you guys would never be a burden," Miss Todoroki chuckled.
Your mom smiled, "Thanks, Fuyumi," she checked her watch, "But it really is getting super late."
"I understand," Miss Todoroki sighed, "Natsuo will you start loading her car?"
You frowned, looking to Shoto who was focused on collected the silverware from the table. You hoped to see Shoto again soon after you left. You knew you'd miss him even more after this.
After packing up most of your things and helping clean, Natsuo lead you outside to the car. You gave everyone hugs, even Endeavor. Shoto's was the longest and most special. It was one that made you long for more and made it even harder to leave, though you knew the time had to come eventually.
So you left, and you admitted to yourself that was the best Christmas you ever had, even with the disappointment of leaving in the end, all the parts leading up to that made up for it.

Over the rest of the break, you and your mom decided to travel with nothing else to do. It was depressing to not be able to see Shoto anymore after that night, but you still called and texted him frequently. Plus, having the little cactus he gave you on your windowsill helped remind you of him... and of course the necklace of what he had given you so long ago.
New Years was uneventful like always. Shoto said his was pretty uneventful as well without someone like you spend it with. It made you wonder if you would've had the balls to kiss him at midnight like the tradition.
By the time school came back around, you would've been actually looking forward to the tutoring sessions at Miss Todoroki's if it weren't for the two of you cancelling them. Turns out they payed off and your math skill had gotten so much better. You couldn't help but at least be thankful for that.
So instead, Shoto wanted to meet up with you a little before his birthday on January 11th. It was soonest the two of you could be together after you came back from your long trip with your mom. You were beyond excited to see him, especially having it been so long since Christmas.
Even though you were beyond excited to see him, you couldn't help but always feel anxious whenever meeting him. It wasn't like normal this time, though. Instead, it was because of the plans he had for the two of you.
Shoto had decided to finally see his mom in the hospital. Of course, you were honored to be the one to accompany him to something so special, but the anxiety you had for it was immense. Hopefully you'd end up being enough to comfort there and be there for him.
So when the day finally came, your heart was racing a million beats per second.
