“I’m a bit scared you know.” I bring out after a few minutes silent staring at each other with sparkling eyes.
“How do you mean scared?” He sounds afraid for what I am going to say. I give him a kiss to reassure him.
“I mean like what if they find us?” I’m really worried and he notices.
“I don’t know… but they haven’t found us so… they probably haven’t even noticed that we are gone… and they wont find us…” he kisses my nose and I smile.
“We don’t have to worry about it yet…”
“Yeah… and where are we going to get money from? Or…are we going to like… steal stuff?” I ask half serious half giggling.
“No I planned this a long time ago… I have all my money with me we have more than enough to reach Tom…” he takes a breath as if there is coming a whole story. “He was at our school 2 years ago. He was in the room next to me. We kept in touch and now he has a wood shop… we can work there for money and a bit further is the house where I used to live with my parents… it is mine now.” He sighs. I start to laugh he really planned this well.
“Oh my god… Collin you are awesome! I love you!” I warp my arms around his neck and give him a well-deserved kiss.
“Yeah I planned this a long time ago but only for me… but now it’s a whole lot better with you.” He rolls over me and continues the kissing. I start to giggle but then I hear a cracking noise.
“What is that? I ask a bit afraid. I thought we were alone in here. Collin is started.
“I don’t know.” He whispers. I put the light out and make him hush. We hear the heavy door opening. Shit they found us is the only thing I can think about. Collin grabs me close and we both stare at the door while hiding in the hay.I see a shade of a person enter; it’s a farmer. I must say I’m relieved that it’s not the police searching for us but we are in HIS barn so we have to stay hidden. You never know he is a freaky farmer that wants no one on his territory.
He is carrying something that looks like a huge bag of trash. He throws it in an open spot where I suddenly notice the soil there is all black. The farmer takes out pack of matches.
He lights one up and throws it on the bag that is immediately in flames. I would gasp but Collin shuts my mouth before I make any noise. It is kind of scary but the fire also fascinates me and it is warming.
Oh shit! My shirt is hanging on one of the pillars what if that famer sees it! But then disaster strikes. Even worse than all the things I was thinking about that could go wrong. The flames move over to the hay. It takes some time till I am completely aware of what is happening. This whole barn is going to burn up starting with the hay and we are in it! Collins hand is still on my mouth. I’m glad it still is or I would scream the whole neighbourhood together. Collin points at a ladder behind us and I silently climb up there while he is taking our stuff quickly together. Luckily we put our pants back on a few minutes ago. As Collin climbs behind me up the ladder while both hoping the farmer wouldn’t see us. What a rancher is this he sets his own barn on fire and isn’t even panicking?
As we come on the little platform a huge flame jumps up right in front of me. I scream as a reflex and jump back down with Collin right behind me.
“Who is there?” A hoarse voice shouts.
Collin grabs my hand and tries to find a way out through the sea of flames. I hear the farmer stepping closer but then he turns around as if he changed his mind. Then I hear the door close.
He locked us up in a burning shed.
I start to break down I don’t want to die in here, and besides burning alive seems awful.“Collin he locked us in!” I cry out.
“Don’t be scared Allie you are save with me… I’ll never let anything happen to you…” He looks around. “Here hold this and stand back will you?” he grabs his boots and puts them on without tying them. I do what he tells me while I am coughing from the smoke it thickens quickly.
He gives the wooden wall a strong kick but nothing happens. He tries another two times and then it breaks. Fresh air! He breaks off enough planks for us to fit through I get out of there as soon as possible. I pull Collin with me and keep running. I stop when we arrive in a forest. We can still see the pillar of smoke. Then I realize I’m still shirtless, I grab one out my bag and quickly put it on. I’m in shock. One good thing about it is that the rain stopped.
“We need to call the police!” I panic.
“Don’t stress, don’t cry… it’s ok we are save now… we can’t call the police… there are no houses that could catch flames in the environment and they would find us… and yea you would have to go back to that damned school and uuhm they would put me in jail or something.” He tries to convince me.
“But Collin!! You saw that bag right! And how that guy didn’t even react how his farm was burning down! That could have been a body in there! Then it is murder! We need to call the police!” I scream.
“Yeah that might be but… the police will receive a call from other people who see the smoke… and probably he is the owner so the police will find him don’t you understand? I don’t want to be unhappy for the rest of my life in jail knowing I’ll never see you again.”
“Why would you have to go to jail? They’ll know you didn’t do it… we can’t just not tell the police about all of this.” I fight back.
“ONLY this, how big it the chance we run into another psycho? And yea I kind of kidnapped a minor, …you.” He smiles but then he looks serious again while rubbing his hip. There is something black there. I haven’t noticed it before.
“What is that?” I ask surprised trying to pull his hand away.
