Mortals Meet Demigods and One-Shots (No Mist)

Halloween Special- Sarah Marks

Halloween was a big event at Camp Half Blood. 

Athena kids would tell scary stories around the campfire, Rachel Elizebeth Dare would lead kids in pumpkin carving, The children of Apollo would sing songs and put on Halloween plays and the councillors would decorate the big house, turning it into a haunted house for the younger demigods. 

Even though one certain son of Hades claimed to hate the holiday, saying it was cliché and stereotypical, everyone knew he secretly loved it. Skeletons could be seen running around camp, a small Italian laughing while scaring the half-bloods. 

Even though everyone loved to dress up in costumes, going from cabin to cabin trick or treating, no-one enjoyed October 31 more than the Stoll Brothers.

Travis and Conner thought Halloween was one of the best days ever- only second to April Fools Day. To them scaring campers was exactly the same as pranking and unlike their usual jokes, they could mostly get off with scaring people on Halloween without getting beaten up.

The brothers had just finished jump scaring the Demeter kids ( Travis's favourite cabin to prank) and were about to head to the Athena Cabin. They had made almost 200 mechanical spiders with the Hephaestus cabin and had placed them throughout the cabin of the goddess of wisdom. In about five minutes, Camp Half-Blood would be filled with the screams of the dignified Athena kids and Travis and Conner wanted to see it.

That was a mistake. 

Sarah Marks's POV:

I was sitting in Greek Mythology class, my teacher droning on and on about the Olympian Gods. In the desk beside me, my best friend Piper McLean was asleep, her choppy brown locks cascading down her shoulders. Even though she was asleep most of this class, she still managed to get everything right, making her our teachers least favourite as the Cherokee girl often corrected him. 

Mr. Cares cleared his throat. " Miss. McQueen care to tell us what the goddess Aphrodite looked like? "

Piper's head shot up from the desk as she blinked her multi-colour eyes blearily. 

" Mo- Aphrodite's appearance changes depending on what the viewer find beautiful " She answered confidently. 

The teachers grin was so big, it was almost creepy. " Wrong " He chided " In the painting The Birth Of Venus, Aphrodite is pictured with blonde curly hair and blue eyes" 

Piper scowled and looked down muttering in French and Greek?

" Hey " I said leaning over " How do you know all this stuff about mythology? " 

She looked at me, her face emotionless. " I'm a daughter of Aphrodite "

Piper must have noticed my wide eyes and gaping mouth because she chuckled. " Just joking! My dad works in the government " She replied quickly

I nodded and turned back to the lesson. We were about 30 minutes into the lesson, Mr. Cares shooting questions at Piper who kept nodding off. Of course she got them all right, leaving a scowling teacher. 

" Miss. McQueen, what is Hermes's Godly Weapon? " 

She was about to reply when an Iris Message started in front of her. Everyone gasped. 

Piper McQueen was a demigod!

In the mist there was a smiling blonde boy with electric blue eyes and blonde hair. He grinned at Piper. 

" Hey Pipes "

" Hey Sparky, Why'd you IM me?  

" Travis and Conner decided it was a good idea to fill Cabin 6 with spiders- STOLLS! I WILL MURDER YOU! "

 A new voice screamed in the back. Two identical looking boys with brown hair and blue eyes were being chased by a muscular girl with blonde curls tied in a high ponytail. She was running around waving a bronze dagger screaming bloody murder. A boy with black hair was sprinting after her, trying to calm her down with no avail. 

Piper laughed, seeming to understand the bizarre situation. The boy seemed to finally catch up to the girl, grabbing her elbows and lifting her into the air slightly as she kicked at his shins still screaming. 

The tallest of the two boys looked at the other. " We should have pranked the Poseidon Cabin by insulting Finding Nemo instead "

At this the boy dropped the blonde girl and stepped back glaring, pulling out a pen that turned into a sword. " No one insults Finding Nemo " He said through gritted teeth before both of them charged. 

The blonde boy turned back to the IM smirking. " So as you can see the Stolls have a death wish and we can really use a powerful charm-speaker so no one dies- And I want to see you " 

Piper smiled " Miss you too Jase " 

Just then a dark haired Italian stepped out of the shadows. My friend swiped her hand through the mist and walked towards the boy. 

" Hey Neeks " He groaned and scowled but a small smile was etched on his face. Piper turned to us and gave a small wave. " Piper McLean, Daughter Of Aphrodite, Charmspeaker, One of the seven, Bla bla bla " 

With that, Piper and the boy disappeared into the shadows and I never saw them again.
