Tallis' POV
I let the emotions of what I've been feeling over the past couple of months consume my entire being. The worry, paranoia and fear of not waking up to tomorrow, overwhelm me to the point where I lie back down on the double bed, cradling my head when I get a ear-splitting headache.
A bottle of water is thrown at me "Your hands are small as fuck" I point out as I gulp down the entire thing.
"First of all, language!" she reprimands.
"Secondly, come an Ally- " I groan. Wynter is terrible at giving nicknames, she took apart my name and somehow ended up with 'Ally'. I've hated the name ever since she gave it to me when we were teenagers. I mentally shudder at the whack nickname.
"it's human anatomy you bozo. My hands are supposed to be smaller than yours because you're a man and I'm a woommaan" she says the last woman slowly as if she's trying to teach a baby how to speak.
"We're way past that nickname Wyn" my headache comes back in waves "Do you have any pain killers?"
"Yeah, Sit tight, I'll be right back"
"No, thought I'd go for a jog" sarcasm drips from my every word.
She gives me the finger and walks to the kitchen "Language" I mimic her, raising my voice an octave higher.
I look the computers on her desk. I'm tempted to look at whatever she was working on but I'll never be able to understand the complex code. I can attempt the basic coding myself but that is nothing compared to her professional level.
After all, she's Wolff -one of the best computer scientists in the world.
Wynter prides herself when it comes to her programmes; she regards herself as the best. Is she cocky about it? Fuck yeah. I'd never tell her that though.
"Here you go" She hands me some pain medication and another bottle of water when she comes back "I hope you weren't snooping around my computers, you know that if you did I - "
"How was the past few weeks with Stella?" I stop another long, boring lecture.
She looks at me knowingly at my change of subject, she doesn't say anything but I know she wants to complain about Aunt Stella, I can see it. I hold back a chuckle.

"Argh! I can't take it" she exclaims.
I let out a chuckle "Don't get me wrong, I love aunt Stel but she can be a lot. I swear, if you hadn't arrived today, I would've cooped myself up with my programmes and never come out" It might seem like an exaggeration but it's true. Wynter could spend hours in front of her computers and still not be affected by the screen time.
"There isn't anything we haven't talked about, everything ranging from her multiple ex-husbands, to 'how young she is', back to her time working for Dinero - " a legendary gang leader "that conversation wasn't so bad"
"I'm just glad you're here though. I've missed you so much. But DEAR GOD WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" I wince as her voice reaches an irritatingly high pitch.
"Do you know that Patrick Sylvester is looking for you! A mafia boss for heavens sake - he's not even from America Tallis!" Wynter might as well be having a conversation with herself because she doesn't give me a chance to reply "I actually did some digging and found that one of the scientists missing is Patrick's sister" she informs me.
That peaks my interest, but as much as I want to hear more on that, coming here meant a break from my sordid life. One of the things I missed and love about my relationship with my sister, is that I don't have to say what I am thinking. She just sees the look on my face, gets what I do and do not want to talk about. From there on out, everything just flows.
