Harry

Breathe in. One, two, three, four and five. Breathe out. Repeat.

I closed my eyes for a second as I repeated the cycle I was taught years ago. The car moved at a rapid speed but the only thing I could think about was how to calm myself down.

I looked over at James, who invited me to this party. It seemed fun at first when he called me up and told me to get ready because we were going out. When I got in the car though, I noticed how dressed up they were. "Where are we going?" I had asked and James simply chuckled as he told me were going to a party.

Seeing how underdressed I was, gave my first flash of panic. The skinny jeans and Burberry heart-print shirt was not good enough for the occasion I was being dragged too. "James, I'm underdressed," I panicked slightly but he simply shook his head as he reached in the trunk of his car.

"I got you," He told me, his hands grabbing something before he showed me the black tuxedo jacket. "You left this at my place the night of your first event and I thought you would be a bit underdressed for tonights' party."

"Is it really a party, though?" I asked him, my eyebrows knitting together in confusion. Surely seeing James in a tuxedo meant this is a special occasion and not just some party where everyone is drinking their worries away or snorting some lines in the bathroom.

Believe me, it shocked me as well when I first went to a party. I expected the alcohol overuse and the people getting wild between the four walls. I expected people to be animals, let loose. I did not expect that drugs would be taking the upper hand. They did it everywhere, snorting on tables with their hundred dollar bills, taking pills on the dancefloor or smoking in the garden or even on the dancefloor.

It's the kind of parties my mum had warned me about. I'm only eighteen years old, I haven't really experimented on drinks and drugs, my main focus had been my career and building it. That night, several people offered me pills and I politely declined the offer, sticking to what I know, alcohol.

An eighteen-year-old is not supposed to be at these kinds of parties, but now it has become my reality.

I dropped my first single on the market eight months ago and after two months it got picked up by a label and it was heard all over the world. My label immediately released my first album, based on tracks I've written and songs with other artists. Ever since then I've been travelling all over the world, doing interviews, performances and more.

My life has been hectic ever since and it didn't help my panic attacks. I loved it but at the same time, it is very hard to deal with. I haven't really made that many friends I can actually talk to besides at parties.

I guess James is my friend now. He's a lot older than me but he's still a fun person to talk to. Besides, he has been through all of this before. He has shown me what to do and what to avoid in this industry.

So, that's how I got here, anxiously going through my hair in the backseat of James' car. "Tell me again, where are we going?" I asked, completely out of breath.

James noticed my behaviour and simply chuckled, his grin was nothing compared to my anxious eyes. "Harry, relax," He told me, his eyes flitting towards his wrist to check the time. "I don't want you to panic when I tell you alright?"

I breathed in deeply, my shoulders falling as the air left my lips before I nodded. "Okay, where are we going?"

James' phone lit up and he quickly scanned the message before looking at me. "Harry, tonight is the start of your career in the States. Jeffrey didn't want to tell you where you were going because you would get stressed out but," He paused slightly, trying to hype me up. "This event will do wonders for your career."
