Okay, so after that traumatizing betrayal, paranoia has slowly begun to surround me. If the betrayal was that painful, I can't even imagine the pain. Probably why the old Japanese man said "unimaginable pain". That could be it.
With every step down that hill, I keep turning around and checking behind me. I decide it's better to stick with the group, so I slow down my pace and let them catch up. Luckily they're no longer talking about video games, so that's pretty great.
They occasionally include me in the conversation, but I just nod distractedly. I'm too busy debating whether or not I should tell them what the old Japanese man said. After all, Bob's reaction was a bit discouraging. Just a little bit. BUT I'M NOT CRAZY!!!
I finally zone out so MUCHI that before I know it, we're approaching Bubba's, a burger place that we go to pretty much every day.
We walk in and place our orders. Dipshit, who is kindly paying, turns to me so I can order.
"Um I'll have some rootbeer please," I say.
"Okay, will that be all for you?"
Before I know it, I blurt out, "Can I also have a side of please don't hurt me with that?"
With that, everyone kind of states at me weirdly. I chortle nervously, trying to break the tension. Luckily it works, but not in the way I imagined. Instead everyone bursts out laughing at my laugh. Although hurtful, at least it worked so I'm okay with it.
We go and sit down at the stools and wait for our orders. As we wait I stare at the workers placing some sizzling fries in a tray. While I watch, a piece of hot oil flies towards my hand. Everything seems to slow down, and I try to move my hand but it's too late. With a hiss, it lands on my hand.
I let out a scream of agony and fall to the floor, clutching my hand. No pain could ever be greater than this. I close my eyes slowly, thinking there's no way I'll survive this. But then someone is touching me, telling me to get up, and I realize the pain is gone.
Once again, everyone is staring at me like I'm weird but I'm perfectly normal so they're the weird ones. Haha. Joke's on them.
Deciding not to chortle this time because apparently it's weird, I casually say, "Come on, let's go to the library already."
