One day, I was at a beach full of tidepools. I was feeling rather hyper that day, and when I get hyper, I tend to sing. Nothing in particular, I will just sing about random things to the tune of whatever song I have stuck in my head. It must have been fate, for that was the day I met Peffron.

I walked through the tidepools, the water glistening in the bright sun. I was headed to my favorite tidepool, which contained a collection of all sorts of seaglass. The breeze had the faint smell of fish and salt, and I breathed it in, appreciating my surroundings.

And then I was at the tidepool, picking up pieces of glass. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed slight movement. As I took a closer look, I realized that it was a hermit crab.

It had a black shell with a swirly pattern of white lines. I gently placed it on my hand, and waited for it to come out of its shell. Literally.

It took a minute, but slowly I noticed a leg and a faint tickling sensation. I gasped, and as the hermit crab walked around on my hand, I started to sing.

It was a beautiful song about loss and honor. (Not really, I can't remember what I sung at all, but I might as well make it dramatic).

Anyways, during the song - in which I just said random things that popped into my mind - I named the hermit crab Peffron.

It was beautiful, and Peffron seemed to like his name.

We fell in love while I was at this tidepool, with him in my hand, as I continued to sing to him. (Of course, when I say "him", I'm not really sure of how to identify a hermit crab's gender... But bear with me, for the sake of you homophobes -_- Peffron will be a guy).

After a while, we decided to marry each other. It was a secretive wedding, that I kept secret from my mother who was at the tidepools with me.

Sadly, I had to go, and my mother separated me from my hermit crab lover. It was tragic, and I might have cried a little.

I set him back down in the water where I found him with teary eyes. As he slowly sunk down to the bottom of the tidepool, I whispered, "Be free little Peffron. Be free."

With a heavy heart, I trudged back up to the car. Before I stepped in, I turned with a forlorn look, in an attempt to see my beautiful hermit crab once more. Alas, he was nowhere to be seen, and holding back tears now, I climbed into the car and we drove off.

And I knew in my heart, that I would never see Peffron again.
