I'm at the Police Station the next day, being interviewed by Sheriff Forbes.

"I asked Stefan to help. I thought that by helping Vicki, he was helping my brother," I say, giving a small nod.

"Any signs of aggression or violence?" she asks and I shake my head.

"No."

"So you believe Vicki really has left town?"

"Yes," I say, giving a small nod.

. . .

I walk outside with Jenna and Jeremy after the interview to see Stefan at the bottom of the stairs of the Police Station.

"I'll meet you guys at the car," I say, nodding to Jeremy and Jenna.

"Ok," she says and walks over to the car with Jeremy as I walk over to Stefan.

"You ok?"

"I don't think the Sheriff suspected anything," I say, shaking my head. "Jeremy had no memory at all. All he knew was what Damon made him know."

He nods softly.

"Thank you."

I shake my head.

"I can't do this Stefan. Every time I look at Matt or Jeremy, all I think is that Vicki is never gonna come back. And they'll never know why. Around you people get hurt and people die. I can't I just. . . it's just too much. . ."

"Why don't we go somewhere and talk about it?"

"No, Stefan you have to stay away from me. People have. . . lost their minds in the mere presence of me, and what if you or someone else gets hurt because of it?" I ask before walking off to the car.

. . .

I'm sitting on the couch with a blanket over my legs and see Jenna flop down next to me, sighing.

"You're wallowing," she says and I look over at her.

"So are you."

"My wallow is legitimate. I was dumped."

"Yeah. Well, Logan's an asshole."

"You didn't get a brush-off e-mail saying: I'm leaving town. See ya.

"Wanna keep it down over there?" Jeremy asks from behind us and we turn around to see him writing.

"Why, what are you doing?"

"Homework."

Jenna and I look at each other and I look back at him.

"Since when do you do homework?" I ask, confused.

"I gotta finish this. I'm way behind and I have a quiz tomorrow so. . . "

Jenna and I stare at each other, surprised.

"What do you think? Alien?"

"Some sort of human replicant," she says and we both laugh.

"He can hear you," Jeremy says, giving us a fake smile.

. . .

I'm laying in bed trying to sleep and hear a knock on the door. I turn my head to see Bonnie smiling at me.

"You up?"

"No," I say and pull the covers over my face and hear the door close behind me.

I feel her trying to pull the covers back and I shake my head as she sits on my bed.

"No. No."

"Why haven't you called me back?"

"I'm sorry," I say, sighing softly and look up at the ceiling.
