I clutched his hand, watching as he slept. "Look, I'm sorry, but visiting time is over." The doctor says. I glare at him fiercely, biting back a snarl.
"I'm staying." I growl forcefully. Kiko lays his hand on my shoulder, squeezing it gently to remind me to be calm.
"Doctor, just let her stay. They are pretty close and I'm sure if she stays, he'll wake up sooner." Kiko urges, trying to keep me happy and the doctor safe from my wrath. The doctor sighs.
"It's against protocol, I can't let her stay." He sighs, trying to stay calm. He rubs his tired eyes, exhausted from a long night at work.
"Please, let her stay." Mark begs, knowing that my temper is slowly rising. I level my gaze at the doctor, trying to seem kind when I honestly don't give a fuck at the moment.
"Please let me stay. I'll stay out of your way and I'll keep quiet. It'll be like I'm not even here." I swear, he pause before sighing.
"Fine, but if you're asked who let you stay, say you hid in the bathroom or something." He relents, leaving quickly before he could be asked any more questions. Uncle Cody crouches down beside me, his eyes betraying his worry.
"Jay, we'll be leaving now. Kiko will call the school to say that you have been picked up for a family emergency and we'll send Ember back. I'll stop by in the morning and bring you food." He says, kissing my forehead before leaving. I watch as they file out of the room. I turn back to Ash, watching for any movement.
"Jaiyana?" Ember asks, softly. I look at her, her soft blond hair seems to glimmer under the white lights.
"Yes, Ember?" I answer, she smiles shyly at me.
"I killed Lara for you. She needed to die, and we both know that she could have gotten away if we took our time. But, don't worry, I made sure she felt pain." She smiles a bit, her eyes faraway looking.
"Thank you, Ember. can you tell the boys that I'll tell them what happened when I get back?" I ask politely, she nods and leaves with one last smile at me. I kiss the back of his hand, before glancing at the open hospital door. I hurry over to the door, shutting it before laying down next to Ash. I lay my head next to his, my eyes run over his features sadly.
We can always heal him. Echo reminds me quietly.
No, we can't. He's human and the doctors will notice if we healed him. I sigh.
She sulks inside my head, whining softly. I push his brown hair back, gently kissing his cheek. "I know you're asleep, well, in a medical induced coma for right now, but I just need someone to talk to." I whisper, letting my eyes close. The sounds of his heart beats fill the room, both mechanical and in my senses.
"I barely talk to people now. I call you and the boys, and of course I talk with my roommate and my friends, but I just hate being there. I hate that you could be killed and I wouldn't be here, and I hate that I feel like I'm not even apart of this family anymore." I say, feeling tears prick my eyes. My phone begins to ring, I get to my feet and answer it.
"Hello?" I ask quietly, heading over to the window and looking out over the parking lot.
"Jay! How did everything go?" I hear Luca demand. I sigh, letting my eyes track a heavily pregnant woman trying to race to the hospital doors.
"Is Ember there?" I ask, hearing talking in the background.
"Yeah, she got here like five minutes ago. Anyway, she isn't answering us because she's talking with her mate and we want to know what happened." I hear Miles answer. I roll my eyes. I should have known.
