The Mood At Camp

Third person POV

Chiron had called everyone for a meeting. No one knew why. All the campers had been called to the Big House.

As Annabeth walked towards the Big house, she tried to ignore the stabbing pain in her heart. At the same time, she kept a lookout for Percy, though she knew he must be in his cabin and probably wanted to be alone. She thought about popping her head in the Poseidon cabin, but she decided against it- Percy probably hated her now. A small tear slipped out of her eye.

As all the campers gathered around, Chiron came in, followed by Zeus, the King of gods.

To say that all the campers were shocked would be an understatement. All the campers bombarded Chiron with questions at the same time.

"Why is he here?" "What happened?" "Are the other Gods coming?" "Where is Max?" "Why are we here?" "Is there going to be a new war?" "Was there a new prophecy?" "Is it something very serious?"

"Calm down!" yelled Chiron over the campers and the hubbub died down instantly.

"This is something very serious, yes. Its about a camper, Percy Jackson.  A camper, Max Hyde was found today with remote like button specially made for influencing people's minds to go against him. Zeus has taken him for a punishment. He is also going to be removing the influence over you." Chiron explained.

Zeus raised his hand, and suddenly, a fog seemed to clear from Annabeth's mind. She looked around, and everyone had a brightened look, and she understood everyone felt the same way.

"Please call Percy, we need to apologise!" Annabeth yelled sadly. Her poor Seaweed Brain. She still felt guilty, because she could have easily stopped the influence, but she let her selfishness get in the way. It seemed that all the other campers also felt the same about their hero because they nodded.

"He left this morning, unable to take anymore. I saw him but didn't approach him. He looked so broken" Chiron said sadly" A search party will be made to find him"

The campers had immediate reactions. Katie sobbed on Travis' shoulder, Connor lost the gleam in his eye, Grover sniffed and silently cried, Clarisse, who had been one of the people who hadn't let the influence get in her mind, banged the table. Everyone started silently sniffling as guilt overtook them.Nico dissapeared in the shadows, and the usually grinning Leo had paled and then left, saying something about a machine, but everyone knew he wanted to be left alone for a while.

But the worst was Annabeth. She ran out of the Big house, and rushed towards the Poseidon cabin, not daring to believe that her Seaweed Brain was gone. When she saw the cabin was empty, she rushed around camp, calling his name, as if hoping to believe that he was here, just hiding, and would come back to her, and she could hug and kiss him and apologise a thousand times for what she did. 

When she didn't find him, she sat down at Thalia's tree, hugging her knees and seemingly waiting for him to come back.

Everyone had retreated back to their cabins, wanting to be alone, hoping this was all just a nightmare that would pass. A few campers were together trying to make a group to find Percy. Chiron had contacted Sally, but she said that she had recieved a note from Percy, explaining about what had happened and how he was safe with new friends.

 A particular blonde-haired camper was still outside, at the beach this time, sitting in what was 'their spot'. Poseidon had punished everyone at camp, except for Chiron and Clarisse.

No one except them could walk on the beach, for the naiads and the other sea creatures looked at them with such hatred in their eyes that tears would immediately slip down and they would have to run back. Poseidon had retreated into the depths of his ocean, and frequent storms had arrived in just a few hours.

As Annabeth sat on the beach, wanting to be left alone, she looked at the pretty sunset and gave a short, sad smile which was immediately diminished when she saw some coral that reminded her of Percy's eyes. A plate full of food lay untouched at her side - Chiron had brought her dinner at the beach out of concern but she wasn't hungry. She looked heartbroken and sad. For her, it felt like a part of her was gone, and maybe, she wouldn't be able to get it back.

She looked at the tides and remembered his cuddles, his smile, his sarcastic comments, the butterflies he made her feel, and she held out her hand, as if hoping he would just appear out of mid-air, and comfort her. She felt she didn't deserve anything anymore.

She then looked at the sea again and said,

"Please come back."
