CHAPTER 1: FIRST MEET AT THE CASTING DAY
The chaos and messiness have swept over my life since the day I knew I needed to start my short film project for my graduation.
The fact that I have once said that I wanted to make a film or to be a director all becomes nothing when I face such a situation. I suddenly want to quit! I really... really want to know what would come first, to graduate or to die?!
At my junior year, I thought I studied so hard already but It isn't able to compare with the senior year at all. Doing the thesis, man, it makes everything I have seen before this just a piece of cake! My goodness! Maybe all the professors should stop competing with each other on who will assign more works to students who already. We need bedtime too! Gosh!
Yes. This is me. The most grumbling, cranky, irritable person ever existed in the world!!
"Teh! You want to sleep until tomorrow?!" I tamp him once at his side body with my elbow after the teacher walks out of the hall. Fortunately, it was a big auditorium class, so the teacher didn't notice that Teh-Chin fell asleep after the class had started less than half an hour.
"Class dismissed?" his drowsy voice makes me want to rage again! Holy crap! Why didn't get enough sleep at night?!
"Not yet, I guess! There're only you and me now! Can't you see?! What a sleepy head!"
"Hey! Karn! Stop complaining already!!" He glowers at me.
Such a pain in the ass!!
I am about to punch him but he laughs at me instead. It's just like this. We have been close since freshmen year. At first, I didn't like him, but we've continued pissing each other off until we now know each other very well, more than anyone.
I'm much more relieved about the thesis now. And it's because this same, old Teh-Chin has helped me and facilitated me a lot. He is a talented person, very good at managing things, namely coordinating, cue-setting, and contacting important deals. He manages to do all of them for me. That's why I trust him a lot. Part of it maybe because I'm not really smart, so I have been asking him a favour since freshmen year until senior year.
The atmosphere in front of our university is always bustling in the evening. I and The-Chin settle for something to eat at a famous steak house in front of the university where the food is so tasteless a stray dog wouldn't eat it. But because of an unlimitedly huge amount of food they give, we need to choose the quantity before the quality. I order Porkchop, Teh orders chicken steak, we've waited for a while before the counter call us to get our food.
Gosh! The waitresses are just so grumpy! Getting criticized by Netizens in web board once doesn't even urge them to improve their service mind.
"Shit! So annoying!" I harshly place my plate on the table. Teh-Chin is startled and tells me to calm down.
"Calm down, young man. Aren't you used to it now? It's just like this every time we're here. Maybe next time could be worse."
"Um, if it wasn't this cheap, I wouldn't be here again for sure," I chop a steak and put it into my mouth, chewing it without any more talking.
Man, I'm starving!
"Now I know! You are hangry! You prick! That's why you won't stop complaining!" He points at my face with a fork and curses! Do you think I care? Of course, no.
"Not your business."
He laughs out loud. That's because I'm like this every time I get hungry. You can say this has become my habit now. I can't control myself when I'm starving.
