Part Fourteen

A/N
I can't believe I am once again doing this but I will skip the day because I can't think of anything to put. (AUGHHHH)

Melody laid on her bed, bottle of scotch in her hand, hugging her pillow like it's a bear. Meanwhile I sat at the table and stared at the invitation. I sighed and got on a black walker skirt with a light blue button up that I tucked in. I left Mel a note, put I beside her bed, and kissed her on the forehead.
It took a while but I eventually found the place pretty early and waited in the elevator due to me not wanting to go up alone, it was a stupid thing but I was almost terrified to go by myself. Eventually after what felt like forever and a long time of me playing with my visibility the elevator door opened to reveal Five, he walked in and was about to close the doors when Diego showed up, followed by Allison, then Klaus, Vanya, and lastly Luther. None of them could see me since I was invisible which made me want to laugh.
"Good, we're all here." Five said as the doors closed
"No, Y/N's not here." Luther pointed out
Five head slightly turned behind him, signalling that he knew I was there.
"This is why I always won at Hide-and-Seek." I said laughing as I turned my visibility on startling a couple of them.
We all stood there in silence until the elevator then filled with a god awful smell, I covered my nose with my hand and hoped to god the elevator would open.
"Luther." Klaus growled
"Sorry, I'm nervous." Luther apologized
The elevator finally opened, letting us all free at last. We all have our disgusted comments as we walked out and into the room.
"This is nice." I say as I looked around at the Hawaiian stuff everywhere, I sat down and leaned back a little as I admired the room more.
"All right, when Dad gets here, I'll do the talking. Okay?" Five suggested
"I have a few questions for him myself." Diego blurted
"Hey, we don't wanna scare him off alright. He might be able to help us stop doomsday, get us home." Five shot down
"No, we need to figure out why he's planning to kill the president." Diego sassed back at him
"This is a matter of life and death, you imbecile."
I rolled my eyes and stretched my arms
"Okay, yeah, maybe we should take turns talking. Yeah? Here who ever has got this conch shell gets to talk." Vanya suggested as she held up a shell in her hands
I chuckled at her adorable idea but I had things I wanted to say to our dad that I don't need a shell for.
"Vanya, we don't have time for a debate, okay?" Five said obviously getting annoyed
"Maybe I should lead. We all know I'm a better public speaker than the rest of you." Allison suggested as she took the shell from Vanya and found a spot at the table
"Okay, Daddy's girl." Diego said sarcastically
"Oh, jealous, number two?" Allison asked him with sass lining her voice
"Hey, no more numbers. No more bullshit we're Team Zero. We're all Team Zero." Diego shot back while walking up to her
"Uh, Diego. You don't have the conch." Luther told him
Diego grabbed it then threw it so it smashed against the wall.
I rolled my eyes and was tempted to hit my head against the table.
"Why do we all fight more when dads involved?" I quietly questioned
The door bursted open revealing our father, in his Asshole like glory.
"Great, dads here." I said sarcastically
We all sat down and my eyes never left him, let's just say I wasn't looking at him like he was my dad, instead I looked at him like he was Satan himself.
"Not only have you burglarized my lab, set my chimp loose, conned your way into the Mexican consulate, repeatedly stalked and attacked me, but you have on numerous occasions, called me-" He was cut off by Klaus' chair screeching against the floor as he sat down.
"Hey, Pop. How's it hangin?" Klaus greeted him
"...Dad." The old man finished
I grabbed a butter knife on the side of me and dug the blade into the table then used the end to spin it around.
"My reconnaissance tells me you're not CIA, not KGB, certainly not MI5, so... who are you?" He asked us
We all were hesitant to respond to him due to us not knowing how to explain it.
"Well..." I drifted off
"We're your children, from the future. In 1989, you adopted us all and trained us to fight against the end of the world. Called us the Umbrella Academy." Five explained to him
"Why on earth would I adopt seven-"
"Eight. One of us isn't here." Allison interrupted
"Dead. One of us is dead." Diego said
Klaus started to shush behind him which drew our attention but then motioned for us to proceed.
"Regardless, what would possess me to adopt eight ill-mannered malcontents?" Das asked
My foot started to tap uncontrollably, the butter knife was gone, and I was just glaring.
"We all have special abilities." Five answered
"Special? In what sense?"
"In the superpower sense." Luther told him
"Call me old-fashioned, but I'm a stickler for a pesky little thing called evidence. Show me." He demanded
"Yeah, no." I shot down right away
"Everybody wants to see powers all of a sudden." Allison scoffed
"We're not circus animals, okay? We're not gonna bounce balls on our noses and clap our hands like seals for your amusement." Luther for once stood up to dad
Diego threw a knife and made it turn to almost hit dad but instead hit a pillar. Dad looked at him then wrote down something in his book.
"What're you writing?" Diego questioned
"You are zero for two, young man." He said
Diego stood up and tried to charge at him but Five jumped in front and stopped him.
"Now that is interesting." Dad admitted
"All right, uh, quick rundown. Luther: super strength. Klaus can commune with the dead. Y/N has invisibility. Allison can rumour anyone to do anything-"
"Except she never uses." Diego said
"I heard a rumour, you punched yourself in the face." Allison rumoured
Diego did so and then leaned forward in pain
"And you?" Dad asked looking at Vanya
"Uh, maybe we don't take Vanya for a test run." Luther suggested
"Oh, yeah, that's probably not a good idea." Klaus agreed
"It's fine. I can handle it." Vanya said as she got ready to use her power
All of us spoke against it but she didn't listen which made all of us get increasingly more worried about what would happen, she hit a fork to the cup and a high pitched ringing came out of it, it stayed like that for a second or so until the fruit in the middle exploded, sending food everywhere and on everyone. We all sighed and picked the fruit off of us.
"Oops." Vanya said cutely
(I say cutely because her little 'oops' is adorable in this scene)
The sound of it exploding ran in my ears for a second
Shatters filled my ears as the fell onto the floor.
"NUMBER EIGHT!" Dads voice yelled
"Just let me out." I begged
"Please."
"Just because you're failing to use your power does not mean the entire team should be help back. Now try again." His voice sounded angry but still monotoned
Tears brimmed my eyes and I tried to get up to the mirror, my legs gave out and I tumbled down onto some of the glass and it cut my knee.
I felt someone poke my shoulder which brought me back to reality. I looked down at my hand and found it clenched so hard the skin was turning white. I stared forwards at the fruit until someone's hand grabbed mine, I jumped and panicked.
"Calm down." Fives voice whispered to me softly
I grabbed back onto his hand tightly and tried my best to calm down.
"You were recently hospitalized, isn't that correct? You still appear to be suffering from delusions of grandeur and acute paranoia." Dad told Diego
"Am I?"
Diego unfolded the picture and slid it over to Dad
"Explain this." He demanded
"That's you. That's two days from now on the grassy knoll at the exact same spot the president's gonna get shot." Diego explained to him
Dad took the picture and examined it before looking my back at Diego.
"Well... I suppose you've solved it. You've single-handedly unhearted my nefarious plot. Is that what your want to hear? You fancy yourself a do-gooder? The last good man who will save us from our descent into corruption and conspiracy. This is a fantastic delusion. The sad reality is that you're a desperate man, tragically unaware of his own insignificance, desperately clinging to his own ineffectual reasoning. More succinctly, a man in over his head." Dad said as he tore into Diego
"You're wr... wrong." Diego stuttered shocking us all
We didn't stand up for him though, none of us could. To Dad we were all just tiny puppets on the strings of his fingers.
"Look, forget about the president. We have a catastrophic war coming in five day. We need to figure out how to stop it." Five tells him
I reached over to rub Diego's shoulder in an attempt to maybe comfort him but he shot his arm back before I could even touch it.
"War? Men will always be at war with each other." Dad smartassly said
"No, this song just some war. I'm talking about a doomsday. The end of the world." Five explained
"Well... you're the special ones, aren't you? Why don't your band together and do something about it?" Dad asked us
"Look all offence old man but do you really think we haven't tried before? You're supposed to be the wise ass with the answers and you say something as stupid as that? Holy mother of god you make me wanna rip my hair out!" I rose my voice at him as I grasped harshly at the top of my hair
"Y/N, stop it." Five tried to calm me down
Klaus suddenly rose his arms is the air and shook violently.
"Is he having a seizure?" Allison asked
"Overdosing probably." Diego told her
"Should we do something?" Luther asked
Klaus turned to dad with his hands still in the air.
"...I'm" he began
"Out with it boy."
"...Ben!" He collapsed onto the ground
I hurried to him to check if he was okay, he seemed fine just out of it.
"Well... thank you for coming. I've seen about enough." Dad said as he began to walk away
"Okay that's it." I stood up and was about to hit dad when both of my arms got held behind me.
"Five, I really don't wanna hurt you but he's reached the end of my patience level." I gritted my teeth
"This isn't getting us anywhere alright. We need him." Five whispered to me
I glared at Dad again and got my arms back then leaned back down to check on Klaus
Luther slammed his fist on the table and stood up before ripping open his shirt.
"Look at what you did to me. Look at it!" Luther demanded
"You in the culottes. A word in private?" Das told Five before exiting the room
"We may be ill-mannered failures in your eyes, but we are still you're kids." I spat at Dad as he walked out of the room, he stopped for a second after I said that before continuing
I got up and walked out of the room and to the elevator, the rest of them joined until we were going down.
"Well, that went as well as any Hargreeves family function." Allison said
"I feel so violated." Klaus blurted our groaning
"I need a herbal bath. You had no right to possess me." Klaus said to no one
"Congratulations." Allison told Luther
"For what?"
"I think that's the first time you've ever stood up to Dad." Allison said to him
"Are you okay?" Vanya asked Diego
"So much for having my back in there. Team Zero, my ass." Diego said
We reached the bottom, we all got out and went different ways to our desired locations.
I didn't want Melody so I went to Elliots with Diego and Luther.
We got in there and it was quiet, it was unsettling.
"Blood." Diego pointed out
There was a small blood speck on the floor, panic washed over me and I started to check to rooms for Elliot. I rushed to the living room and saw Luther standing beside the chair, but something was in it. I walked up to it and saw Elliot, I held my hands over my mouth so I wouldn't scream at what happened to him. I felt absolutely sick to my stomach, the boys looked below at the ground which drew my attention. I looked over and there in crimson blood, was a message.
