dear life,
a few miles are still left between us. you will walk a few steps towards me and i will walk a few towards you. we will reach each other and make a pretty home out of our bleakness. there still remain some complaints. you will say a little and i will repeat. we will negotiate.

your voice will wake my morning sun. your colours will become visible in my eyes. i will bathe in them. my lashes will paint our pretty little home in orchid and flamingo hues.

every avenue will be a destination, yet the pavements will keep twisting into one another. i will walk on your footsteps and you will follow my trail. we will dance barefoot all the way.

for years, i kept picking up your pieces and you kept breaking again. now we will let our pieces lie around like chairs in the living room and spice jars in the kitchen. we will pick them up every morning and put them together in different combinations each time.

we will sew two little pairs of wings, yours and mine, and fly weightlessly through the sky to see where the clouds lead. but be cautious around the stars, life. you are still vulnerable to burning.

vigilantly learning to live again,
yours.
