(Y/N)'s POV
I've been here for about a month and I think I'm finally settled in. Tony made me a suit and I'm pleasantly surprised, I was half expecting him to make it super high tech with all the bells and whistles. It's comfy too, it feels like a full body pair of leggings.
I woke up late and had a small breakfast. Pietro and I were talking when Steve came in my room.
"We're you just talking to yourself?" Steve asked me. I glanced at Pietro for a slip second before responding.
"Uh, yes. Do you need something?"
"Yeah. It's training day. We need you in the gym."
"You're kidding, right?"
"Have you ever heard me tell a joke?"
"Good point, but why do I need to train? I'm stronger than you."
"Strength doesn't matter if you don't have skill." I hate it when he's right.
"Ok, I'll be down in a few minutes." He walked out and I got dressed in athletic wear. I turned to Pietro.
"You wanna come watch?" I asked him.
"Do I want to watch you get your ass handed to you? Absolutely." I rolled my eyes and we went down to the gym. We were the last ones there.
"Nice of you to join us." Tony joked. I walked over and stood next to him.
Everyone was lined up against the wall and Natasha was standing in front of us.
"Ok," she spoke "we're going to work in pairs. I'll start. Clint," she pointed at him "get up here." He looked nervous as he walked to face her.
"Come at me." She said with a smirk. Clint lunged for her and she quickly spun out of the way. They traded blows until Natasha had him pinned to the floor. "Give up?" She asked cockily.
"Not a chance." He flipped her over and pinned her down. She tried to free herself but failed.
"I give up." She said. Clint let her go and they both stood up.
"Aright then, who's next?" Natasha looked at us and we were silent.
"I'll go." We looked over to see who spoke up and saw Bucky raising his hand.
"Cool, who wants to fight Bucky?" Natasha asked all is us. I saw Steve about to volunteer so I walked forward.
"I'll do it." Everyone looked at me with wide eyes.
"Are you sure?" Steve asked me "you've been in like one fight and he's a hundred year old assassin."
"You're underestimating me." Bucky and I walked into the mats and I stared him down. He seemed nervous to fight a child, he should be. I noticed he was about to speak and took my chance. I kicked him in the stomach and he fell backwards, before I could strike again he was back on his feet and running towards me. He tackled me to the ground and got me in a choke hold.
"Give up." He whispered in my ear.
"Never." I know when I'm beat but I had one trick left up my sleeve. I brought my hands up to his head and went digging for the memory I wanted. I found it and brought it to the front of his mind. Sadly, if I want him to see it, I do to. I watch as he pulls my grandfather's weak body from the driver's seat. "Sergeant Barnes?" My grandfather recognizes him before he's killed and put back into his seat. He makes his way to the other side of the car to my grandmother. She's still calling out for her dead husband while Bucky slips his strong hand around her neck, squeezing the life out of her. When he was satisfied that she was dead, he walks around the smoking car and shoots the security camera.
I stand up and kick him in the stomach, before I can do it again, Tony comes around and holds my arms behind me. I look at Bucky, he's gasping for air and tears are streaming down his face. Steve is on the ground next to him, trying to calm him down.
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?" Bucky yells at me. I don't respond, instead I just try to wiggle out of Tony's grasp to get to Bucky.
"Calm down." Tony instructs calmly. Pietro comes up to me be places a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't touch me!" I yell at him, he backs off while everyone else(except Wanda and Vision) looks at me like I'm crazy. Tony drags me out of the gym while I'm still trying to escape his grasp. He brings me back to my room and locks the door.
Once he's sure I'm calm, he looks me in the eyes.
"What did you do?" He asks me with a stern voice.
"I made him see something." I answer.
"What did you make him see?!"
I looked down at my feet "I made him see when he killed your parents." Tony looked at me with an expression I couldn't read.
"How do you even know about that?" He asked me.
"It was in all the files Natasha released to the public." I answered. His expression changed and he hugged me. I wasn't expecting it, but I needed it. I sank into his arms and he made me sit down on the bed. I cried and let out all the emotions that I had bottled up.
"I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I've been so awful to you, it's not fair. You don't deserve this." I said in a weak voice. "I know that they were dead before I was even born but still. How do you not hate him?" I looked up at him with tear filled eyes.
"Because he didn't have a choice, as much as I want to scream and make him feel the pain I felt, I know that he's already had his share of pain and he's since changed." He's right. As much as I resent Bucky, it wasn't his choice, he was being controlled and had no free will. But still, how am I supposed to forgive him? If he hadn't killed my grandparents then maybe Tony wouldn't have grown up to be the way he is and maybe I would've grown up with a father. Maybe I'm overthinking this.
