Pietro's POV

I'm still not used to this. I'm not used to being confined to one space. I'm not used to talking and people hearing it. I'm not used to pain. I was dead for five years. Now I'm not. The uncomfortable collar around my neck isn't helping either.

I stand up, still sore from last nights beating, and sit on the cot in the corner of my cell. I have no clue what their plans for me are. I don't know what they're hoping to accomplish by beating the living daylights out of me. I don't think they know either.

I'm in no position to complain. The men that come into my cell often taunt me with stories of what (Y/N) and Ophelia are going through. I hope the stories aren't true. I hope they're elaborate lies made up to lower my spirits.

I can only hope.

(Y/N)'s POV

I'm woken up by the loud creaking of the door to my cell.

"Awww you guys are visiting me again! I'm so popular." I said with fake glee from the floor, not looking up until there's a loud thump followed by a groan.

"Ophelia?" I look at my girlfriend lying on the ground, slowly sitting up. "Oh my god." I quickly get up and walk over to her.

"Are you ok?" She mumbles to me.

"I'm fine." I engulf her in a hug. "Are you?"

"I'm fine too." She pulls away and looks at the state I am in. "But you are most definitely not." She furrows her eyebrows at the semi healed deep cuts along my arms and legs.

We lean against the cold wall and just hold each other.

"We're gonna get out of here." She whispers up to me.

"I hope so. Dad is basically useless without me around. Same with Peter. Do you know how many stab wounds I've had to stitch up and clean for him? That boy is a magnet." I laughed sincerely for the first time in months. It hurt but it felt amazing.

We sat in silence for a few more minutes and I noticed Ophelia had fallen asleep. I contemplated waking her so we could talk more but I'm not that selfish.

I just looked at her her matted blonde hair, stained with blood. Her normally round cheeks were now hollow. She looked moments from death. I don't even want to see what I look like.

As I watched her chest rising and falling, a memory flashed across my mind.

I looked up from my book at the couch across from me. Ophelia's book lay open on her chest. Her eyes closed and her chest rising and falling rhythmically. I giggle and run off to grab my Polaroid  camera. I pause before snapping the picture.

She's so beautiful.

I bring the camera up to my face and click the shutter button, capturing her sleeping form.

She stirs from the loud click and sees me standing with the camera, a stupid grin on my face.

"Did you seriously take a picture of me sleeping?" She asks.

"Maybe..."

"You're the worst." She says while wiping the sleep from here eyes.

"You still love me though."

"Unfortunately." She says under he breath.

"Hey!" I whine.

"I'm kidding." She holds her hand up in defense.

"Look how adorable you are." I gush, showing her the picture in my hand.

"I'm not adorable!"

"You sound like Peter." I laugh.

"You take that back right now!"

"Make me." I challenge with a cocky grin.

Ophelia shifts in my arms as she wakes up.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" She asks quietly.

"You deserve a good nap. Even just for a few minutes."

"You're too perfect."

"Aren't I?" I smile and she smiles back.

She cell doors open and Chase walks in.

"Awww isn't this cute? You guys are too much." He says.

"Do you ever stop talking?" I ask.

"Do you?" He retorts.

Two guards walk in behind him. One grabs Ophelia and the other pins my arms behind my back, holding me in place. Both of us squirm in a desperate attempt to escape the guards' hold.

"I'm not gonna lie. It has been an absolute pleasure torturing you." He says to Ophelia. "But all good things must come to an end." He pulls a pistol out and points it directly at her head.

"NO!" I scream and the guard holding me slaps a hand over my mouth to keep me quiet.

"This is how we break you." Chase says.

"Don't worry." Ophelia tries to console me. "It'll be okay. You're strong and you'll get through this. I lo-"

A shot rang out and just like that...she was gone. She never finished that sentence.

All the light left her eyes as her lifeless body landed on the hard ground, still looking at me.

I screamed louder than I'd ever screamed before. The guard let me go and I scrambled over to her eerily still corpse.

"No, no, no, no..." I whispered to myself, holding her bloody face in my hands.

I felt all the pain I'd been harboring bubble to the surface. I didn't stop screaming until my throat was raw and sore.

The moment her soft grey eyes went blank was the moment I broke.
