Chapter 47

The guests chuckled when the seven of us started walking on the red carpet.

On my left was Josh, Felip and Kuya Sejun while on my right are Yuan, Kuya Justin and Kuya Stell. They all look stunning on their tuxedo.

This is a dream come true, having my faves and my bestfriend on my debut, escort ko pa. Akala ko hindi ko gusto ang ganitong party for myself pero I was wrong because I am more than thankful that they made this event. Without this, I won't be able to experience this.

When we reached the front, Felip held my hand and guided me towards the only seat. Without saying any word, they all walked away.

The 18 candles started. The typical 18 candles. Mga schoolmates ko ang kinuha nina Mommy. Jonel belongs to them.

The lights became dim as my pictures flashed on the monitor in front of us. A spotlight turned on and there, I saw my Yen holding a microphone.

"Hi Couz!" masiglang bati niya kaya nagtawanan ang mga bisita. Yung bati niya kasi ay yung boses niya sa intro ng YT videos niya which is the noisy tone.

Maingay talaga si Yen but mas maingay siya sa Youtube. Inaasar ko nga siya na masakit sa tenga. Kaya siguro nang-aasar din siya ngayon.

"18 ka na, tumatanda na tayo." she said and cried.

"Wait lang, sabi ko hindi ako iiyak!" pagmamaktol na sambit niya kaya nagtawanan muli ang mga bisita.

She paused and tried to calm herself but hindi niya magawa. Actually ganyan din ako nung birthday niya. The only difference is kami-kami lang ang invited.

Dito kasi sa celebration na 'to, kulang na lang ay imbitahan nila ang buong Manila. That's an exaggeration of course.

"I am just happy for you, I am seeing you happy. At your age, you are very succesful. I am sad at the same time because you are now 18, sooner we'll split our ways. You're not just my cousin or bestfriend, you are my sister, alam mo yan. My gift for you is a necklace. You're already 18, we'll soon part our ways but always remember that my heart will always be a part of yours. "

Tears started pooling my eyes. Kahit naman tumanda kami, she's always be a special one.

"Suportado kita sa lahat. Chase your dreams, if people blocked your way, I am here, your family are here to be your protector." dagdag niya. Dinig na dinig ang hagulgol sa mic kaya nagtawanan ang mga tao. She walked towards me and hugged me tight.

"Happy birthday Couz, mahal na mahal na mahal kita. Hindi magbabago yan." bulong niya.

The spotlight turned off and as soon as it turns on again, I saw Mom in front.

"Hi, my princess." nanginginig na sambit ni Mommy. If there's something I get from her, that's the trait of being soft hearted. Kahit maliliit na bagay iniiyakan ko.

Unang sentence pa lang niya but my tears already kept on falling from my eyes.

"Wala naman na akong mahihiling pa para sayo bukod syempre for a brighter future." she said and wiped her tears.

She opened her right hand and there is a key with a red ribbon on it. "We promised you to give you a car when you turned 18 so here it is."

"You are 18 now, your Dad and I will now let you to choose your path. Drive yourself wherever you want to go, but just always choose the right path. You are now a young adult but I will never get tired of supporting you."

The 18 treasures ended with a lot of iyakan because all of them are my closest friends and family.

"Dito Ma'am!" a staff guided me on a hotel room to change my gown for 18 roses.

It was an elegant baby pink gown with a lot of beads. It also has a side strap with a lot of gray and white flowers that make it more even cool. They also braided my hair, the paikot style at nag-iwan muli ng takas na buhok both sides. Inayos nilang muli ang make-up ko bago ako inalalayang tumayo.

When I came back, sa mismong gitna na ako ng hall dinala.

There, the song Dance With My Father song started to play. It was the classical version.

I roam around only to see my Dad holding a rose on his right hand and smiling widely as he walks towards me.

"Hi beautiful!" bati niya at saka iniabot sa akin ang pulang rosas. By instinct, I wrapped my arms around his nape and started swaying.

"You are even more beautful now. Just like your Mom." he said and smiled. I kissed his cheeks. Nothing will change, I'll always be their baby, their princess even I became old.

"It's just fast. From being a baby, you are now 18 now. I am not yet ready to let you go." he said. I am smiling widely to stop my tears from falling but I just couldn't.

"Dad, I am not going anywhere."

"Maybe not now. But sooner." he whispered and hugged me tight. Agad din siyang kumalas ng yakap at hinawakan ang magkabilang pisngi ko para matitigab ako sa mata.

"Ken's a good guy. I want him for you. Kaya lang naman ako humarang sa inyong dalawa before is because you are too young. I don't want you to experience heartbreak at early age but seeing you get broken made me realize that I broke you even more-"

"Dad no! You forced me but it's my decision to obey. I chose-"

Umiling siya "Now, I'm letting you with him. I've seen you how happy you are whenever you are with him. Always choose your happiness Nat. I am always willing to support you whatever your decision is."

"It's time to choose what you want. Choose yourself." he paused ang kissed my forehead.

"Choose Ken."
