Chaeyoung Son, isn't living the life she set out to live. In fact most of her days feel like depressive loops set out to start and end the same way, amongst the four stark walls of her apartment. Just her, Olive, the cat, and her guitar. Strumming a...
Chaeyoung arose with a yawn and the smell of pancakes. She quickly pulled off her sheets and got out of bed, she scrambled into the living room to find that the cold halls felt somehow open and lively today. Mina's presence had truly changed Chaeyoung's life. She was...
Happier
A feeling somehow lost in her monotonous, lonely days. She watched Mina's back as she was working on the stove facing away from her. Mina turned to place a pancake on the plate on the counter when she saw Chaeyoung standing in her oversized clothes. "Hello! Did you sleep well?" Mina smiled sweetly, one that went to her eyes. She actually felt happy as well. And Chaeyoung looked so cute to her. Though reluctant, she turned back to keep working on the pancakes-- she didn't want them to burn. she arranged the blueberries into a smile and was startled by the two hands that laced onto her waist and intertwined by her stomach. She felt a warmth on her back and the weight of Chaeyoung's head on her shoulder. Unintentionally she laid her weight back humming a sign of comfort. Closing her eyes for a couple minutes, she regained her consciousness to flip the pancake over. "Grab a plate and get some pancakes, there is some nutella and fruit on the table as well if you want," Chaeyoung gave a small squeeze hug and then left to grab a plate, while Mina finished up.
"Thank you for this,"
"Of course we are friends right."
Chaeyoung smiled and nodded a yes. 'Friends,' The word felt almost foreign to her. Even during her public school days she didn't have any friends, she was constantly moving and was also the "creepy orphan" at every school she went. During college and her residency days she was too busy studying or working to find any friends. Or that was the excuse she used to keep herself away from anyone who could possibly give her warmth. Until she got a job, and she got an overly clingy and determinant secretary who would not "chill" until they got to know each other better. But it wasn't a bad thing. Chaeyoung went from no friends to about 9 close ones.
"So we have to go to lunch with the girls, and since that is almost time we should get ready and leave in an hour?" Mina brushed over her arm to check the tiny analog clock on her wrist.
"Yeah! that totally slipped my mind" Chaeyoung's voice echoed through the room and Mina chuckled slightly. Chaeyoung was unable to hide the excitement in her voice to meet her friends.
But Mina had yet a question in her mind "Why was Chaeyoung crying?" She didn't want to push it yet.
