The couple sped past the browning autumn leaves, as they fell adrift to the blowing winds of the night. The muffled sound of "Top 50 hits" echoed into the empty woods on both sides meant to fall on deaf ears. A comfortable warmth, radiated from their entwined hands. The only light, the midnight moon and the headlights.
Mina and Chaeyoung were headed home. They took the long way, for the radiant beauty of the forest was too great to ignore. Reaching their driveway, they pushed open the doors and scampered into their home, before the bitter air of the night got to their spines.
As soon as they walked in though, Chaeyoung had other plans, watching her fiancé locking the door behind them, she removed her heavy woolen coat, and instantly cornered her into the wall. She trapped Mina's lips in a passionate kiss and let her hands roam to her coat zipper which she leisurely removed. Chaeyoung began to trail kisses down to Mina's collarbone. In between each kiss, and breath she spoke, "I too..can...play...this..game." She began to play with the hem of Mina's sweater, before letting her fingers crawl onto her burning skin. Excruciatingly slow she moved upwards. Abruptly, Mina pushed away Chaeyoung's hands and she pressed a finger onto her lips. She looked around. In a confused whisper Chaeyoung spoke,
"Mina what happened?"
"Nothing just..." she trailed off, moving over to the potted plant on a wooden table. She lifted up the lily pot which exposed a small button. She clicked it, and the empty side of the table opened up, to disclose a revolver. Mina grabbed it, and in her hand it looked as if she had held it a thousand times. This time was no big deal. Mina's looked back at Chaeyoung, though her face looked calm Chaeyoung could tell that she was worried and that scared Chaeyoung. Mina pulled her close and began walking around the house, lit only by the moon light.
"Take off your shoes," Mina spoke as she kicked off her own pumps
Chaeyoung though still confused as to what was going on obeyed Mina's directions. Her eyebrows knitted together in utter confusion and fear. Mina kept her pace slow, her socks making it easy to take quiet steps. They walked from the kitchen to the hall, making their way to the bedroom across the hall when they saw a sleeping Ray on his bed. Mina relaxed and walked towards him.
"Hey Ray, you scared me with your scampering buddy."
Mina grabbed the shawl Ray was under and pulled it up to hold her precious dog. But what she saw left her in shock. Scarlet gore covered her fingers. Ray had been cut up and mangled in such as state that one would not be able to identify him a dog unless they knew what the mass of flesh was before hand. All that was left to identify him was the blue collar he wore around his neck. Though it too was now stained red in his blood. Tears began to pool Mina's eyes and she looked behind to see through her blurry eyes a figure jump down from the ceiling.
Chaeyoung felt a harsh pull on her hair and rough arms tangle around her. An icy cold feeling on her temple. Mina in her grief stricken moment staring back at her. Mina was blinking quickly to rid the tears from her eyes. Though trying to hide her emotions she gave a small expression of panic before speaking in a bone chilling voice.
"Give her back,"
"Oh yeah princess? No. Just like what you told my father when it came to saving this bitch, and then you left us in the ice to die. So. No."
Mina lifted her gun. She was not going to go down without a fight.
"Your fight is with me Ryujin not Chaeyoung."
"Yes, my fight is not with her, but she is the most precious thing to you after that mutt of yours. That ring you've given her basically blinds any person who sees it. So when she dies it's going to hurt more than anything."
