It was a calming summer evening. You were on your bed looking out your window slightly cracked open when you looked out to the city of London. A booming city especially during summertime when tourists liked to come. You heard secretive giggling coming from the other room and assumed it was all the other eleven year old girls which there were only three others. They were also probably with the one twelve year old and two ten year olds. They seemed to hate you all your life but you never knew why. Many times you had been punished for giving them a bloody nose or making there face swell up. "It's not my fault they stole my blanket again!" you tried to exclaim for that was only one of the things they did you yet Mrs. Evans, the head of orphanage was never convinced.
You always tried to avoid the nasty girls in the orphanage especially one named Kyla. She had hair so blonde it could blind you and skin the same color which made it sometimes look like she didn't even have hair. She was one of the three eleven year olds at the orphanage but out of the whole place, you hated her the most. She was the one always coming up with to plans to sabotage you and the others just followed along either of fear or loyalty which you could never figure out. And to your luck, your bed was right next to hers. 'I hope she gets adopted into a cruel family so she finally knows what it feels like.' you often thought.
"Please don't make me sleep next to her! Have you not seen the things she's done to me?!" you fought with Mrs. Evans practically every week.
Kyla had a younger sister named Kailey who was eight years old. She was way kinder to you than Kyla was but also wasn't on your side with things. She looked almost identical to Kyla just with slight darker hair that was a golden color.
Ultimately you had no friends. You were stuck with all the cruel girls at the orphanage. Everyone was homeschooled and you only had around three hours of free time. One in the morning which you spent to get ready. You weren't allowed to wake up any earlier or later than when the alarm went off at 6:00 every morning. You usually spent that one hour getting ready with girls pushing you out of the way and making fun of you so only around 10 minutes to get ready. You had school after that and in the mid day you had a free hour which also normally was spent with girls terrorizing you. You had school after that for another 2 hours then it was time for chores. You normally had the job of washing everyone's sheets and blankets. And to your luck Kyla had the job of mopping the floors and it was practically a ritual to either pour the dirty water on your head or if she was feeling nice, splash you. Chores also took way longer than needed for you because the girls would steal the blankets and wouldn't give them back. Sometimes they would even through them out the window and blamed it on you. Your last free hour was spent to get ready for bed with the same routine happening that occurred in the morning. Everyone was off to bed at 9:00 no earlier, no later. That was basically your everyday life in the orphanage.
When the girls were bothering you, you would punch or slap them. Sometimes kick them and from time to time elbow them. But other times you weren't feeling it so you just ignored them.
"She's gone mad I'm telling you!" Kyla would complain to Mrs. Evans who took a liking for her.
At night you wondered what happened to your parents. You were told they died in a car crash and only you survived which was why you had a scar the shape of a lighting bolt above your right eyebrow. But that didn't explain why it would burn from time to time.
Kyla would often tell you, you were at the orphanage because "you are ugly and annoying, why would anyone want you as a child." and to her your scar was "ugly and stupid and you are just trying to get attention when you say it burns". And when she said those things you got very self conscious about your scar and liked to cover it with your hair.
From time to time you would also have horrible dreams that were far beyond your normal nightmare. You often woke up shaking and sweating, sometimes even crying. You tried to hide it though as you did not need even more of a reason for Kyla and her minions to make fun of you.
All these memories were terrible and you thought about them as you stare out the window wishing for a loving family and to be free.
