The class was surprisingly quiet despite my expectation for Tendou to talk to me like he did at lunch, but he didn't.
The bell rang, so I got up to walk out until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around noticing Tendou who seemed conflicted with himself. His mouth was open like he was trying to speak, but he instead pulled his beanie down farther over his head and brushed past me leaving the classroom.
I frowned in confusion until I noticed Keita waiting by the door for me with a smile. She waved and I smiled back as I approached her, "No class next period?"
"Nope, but my brother expects me to sit with him and talk and I really don't want to. Anyway you could be my excuse?" She asked hopefully.
I shrugged, "Why not? Any plans in mind to ditch?" We walked together down the hallway passing students going our direction and the opposite to get to their classes.
"There's supposedly a party tonight. Sort of like a welcome back party for everyone past their first year. I think it would be fun if we go!" She smiled, "Unless you don't like those scenes."
"A frat party? I hate those, but I'll go because you want to go. I guess it wouldn't hurt to go to one a year." I recalled faintly the train wreck that was last year when Semi all but forced me to go to a frat party in my second year.
She beamed with excitement, "It's settled then! Let's ditch the rest of our classes and go shopping for it!"
"Now you're pushing your luck. Semi!" I called him once I noticed him walking across the hall in front of us.
He jumped at the sound of his name and turned to me smiling instantly, "Hey you two. Don't you have classes? Why are you wandering?"
"Ditching." Keita responded.
"Free period." I responded as well.
He nodded, "Then you should come with me to the library. We are playing Uno in the back where the librarian rarely goes."
I laughed quietly at the high school behavior, but we followed him anyway. As we walked to the library, we passed the band room and I cringed knowing I should be practicing in my free time instead of goofing around.
I brushed the thought of being productive away and walked into the library until I noticed Tendou, free of his hat with spiky hair that I wasn't used to, standing with his back turned to me. He reached for a book with a small amount of struggle because of his abnormally tall height.
Semi seemed to notice him too with a look of recognition. I chose not to question it and instead turned immediately back around, "On second thought, I think I need to go practice."
"You sure?" Keita tiled her head at me.
"Yep! Have fun, and see you at the party Keita!" I quickly dashed out but not before hearing Semi quietly question the party I mentioned.
As soon as I was in the band room, I sighed in relief hoping Tendou hadn't turned to see me dash away. He was a great friend, but he didn't seem like the type I'd want around. He wouldn't even talk to me.
I scowled at the thought of him blatantly ignoring me and choosing to pass notes like a child, but wiped away any thought of him when I sat at the piano.
