The Missing Pounds

After half term the girls felt a weight lifted off their shoulders. The next exam wasn't for ages and the girls could relax. But not for long. "I say where did my purse go!" Cried Mary."I had three pounds and I was going to buy a gift for mummy." Mary looked ever so heart broken so Lilac grabbed her purse. "Blow!" she cried suddenly. "What is it?" asked Tammy, coming over."My pounds are all gone and I can't lend any to poor Mary"! Cried Lilac."Oh it's all right." said Mary. "I'll lend her some, here Mary." Said Tammy sliding some pounds into Mary's hand. "Thank you oh so much Tammy and you Lilac!" Cried Mary as she scuttled off into the dormy. Lilac smiled happily. She had rather disliked Mary at first but she grew to like everyone! Well besides Tina. Tina really was always complaining. She would burst into tears all the time and yet nobody wanted to be her friend. Sadly she was the odd one out now. Tammy was quite pleased to see the progress Ambrosia was making with Tilly. Later that day after classes the girls were in the common room. 

"Tina I lent you money last week so you could buy a new lacrosse stick so it's time you repay me." Said Tammy. Grumbling Tina got up and fetched her purse. She walked back a look of dismay. "B-b-b-but I had money!" Tammy stood up and walked over. "My oh my its empty!" Cried Tammy. "I had 10 pounds!" Cried Tina sorrowfully. "Someone must be taking our money!" Cried Tammy. "But the only people who could have slipped in are me, because I had to go back and fetch my shoe lace all alone, Tina because she snapped her lacrosse stick by accident, Tilly because she was studying alone all through games yesterday, Kelly from the third form because she dropped her prep by accident and Leece from the first form south towers who came in to scold us for being loud." Said Lilac all in one huff. Well It isn't you or Tilly." Said Jalissa thoughtfully."It wasn't me I promise!" Said Tina. 

Lilac looked into her eyes and saw a proud conceited girl but under that, she wasn't a thief. "I believe her." said Lilac. "That would bring it down to Kelly of the third form south tower and Leece of the south tower." said Mary. "It can't be Kelly, she is far too nice." said Lilac."It must be Leece then." Said Jalissa gravely. "No pointing fingers, we need proof!" said Tammy immediately taking charge. Tammy told the girls her plan. "I shall talk loudly about the extreme amount of money I received in front of her and than follow her around and catch her red handed!" "How very one sided, the plan only involves you!" Said Jalissa angrily. Tammy gave her a pointed look. "I'm the head girl." She promptly stomped off with Mary. "Uhg lets go. I don't want to miss this." Said Jalissa. Positioned right by Leece, Tammy began. "Oh my mother sent me this rather generous shipping of FIFTEEN POUNDS." "Oh golly." snickered Lilac. Leece immediately started walking in the direction of their common room. "I have to go." she said. The four girls (Mary, Tammy, Lilac and Jalissa) followed Leece. Leece headed inside their dorm. "Where is it, where is it." she muttered. Jalissa and Lilac looked at each other. "Aha!!!" Cried Leece. She had Tammy's purse in her hand. "You beast Leece!" cried Tammy jumping from her hiding spot. 

Poor Leece was frozen to the spot. "Oh um I was just looking for my prep. I dropped it earlier and your purse fell over." Stuttered Leece. "I don't think so!" Cried Tammy. "We heard you." said Mary coming out of her hiding place. Tammy led a stuttering Leece away and Mary followed. "Blow her! She owes me five pounds!" Cried Lilac fuming. "Calm down old girl, let's go." said Jalissa. The two girls walked out of the room.
