On top of a tall radio tower, was Hammonds Scottish scouter, Brodie, looking upon the landscape with his binoculars. They were just about packed up and ready to go, so he decided to get a birds-eye view before they set off.
He saw nothing out of the ordinary that was the dead streets of Japan until he saw something in the distance.
One huge tank, bigger than the Maus, and was being accompanied by two Type 5 Chi-Ri medium tanks. The Chi-Ris guns were dangerous in their accuracy and penetration, but their armor wasn't good.
That massive tank had a rectangular body, a boxy turret, and a huge 15cm naval gun from the looks of it. He needed to get out his big book of tanks, as this was one tank he had never come across, or to thought to exist. He knew from the first looks, it was a beast of armor and firepower.
Making his way down the ladder, he called out "Hammond! Nonna! We have a big problem! Bring me my tank book quickly!"
Hammond was quick to grab it as his panic justified. If the scouter was scared of what he saw, then you could bet it was serious.
Brodie finally got down and was handed his book. Running through it as speed reading levels of flipping page after page, he got to the Japanese Super Heavy Tank side. There was relatively very little written, and only a couple of drawings of the tanks and designs for each.
Hammond, Nonna, and their crews came around to look.
He got to the picture and pointed at it.
"The main tank I spotted is this, the Type 4 Heavy. There was very little information about it that I could get, so I don't know how exactly how thick its armor is. But judging as how it is slightly bigger than the maus, it is definitely thick as it is super heavy. The gun the other hand is a 15cm naval gun, capable of destroying both of your tanks if it penetrates in one shot"
Hammond asked, "What about the others beside it as they travel in groups?"
"There are two Type 5 Chi-Ri's, of which are no problem for the IS-2's gun as it can penetrate it anywhere, but she stands no chance against the Type 4 Heavy"
"I and Hammond are going to make a plan," Nonna said, then taking Hammond's hand, and dragging him away.
"What are we going to do?" She asked scared.
"It's going to be a gamble, but it's all we got" Hammond replied
Once the plan had been made and read over again quickly with their crews, they rolled out.
Hammond was confident that his gun with 240mm of penetration, could one-shot the Type 4 heavy right in the front with ease. Nonna, on the other hand, was nervous to the point of breaking down. The Type 4 Chi-Ri could pierce her tanks armor and had better speed, no tot mention gun handling.
All their lives they had fought for sport using non-lethal tank shells, but it was different now. The shells that were to be fired, were real ones.
The Superheavy lead the three-pack down the road that went through a neighborhood. The speed of the super heavy was a measly 20Km/H, so the Chi-Ris' had to do the same behind it. Rounding the corner, they saw ahead, that the trees were dense the perfect spot for a sniper tank.
The Type 4 Heavy stopped.
"You think our 250mm frontal armor can withstand any bullet they can throw at us?" The driver asked the commander.
"Most likely, but let's not test it. Fire at the bush ahead!"
The 15cm Naval Gun let out its mighty roar that would normally be heard out at sea but now on land.
