Hammond wasn't going to let death take Noonas soft hand from his, not ever. She wasn't going to walk the stairway to heaven today.

His gunner had been too afraid to pull the trigger, firing the live round. Hammond had a greater fear of it despite not being the gunner, but it was all overcome when he saw who and what was at stake. It was human nature.

KAAAABBBOOOOOMMMM!!!!

The shell traveled through the leaves beside the fiery mound of burning trees. Traveling slowly for a tank shell, it curved mid-air. All it needed to do was hit the turret or the same spot again, but if it missed, she was dead.

It struck the side of the turret, melting the steel and parts in it easily. Coming through, it struck the gun, and ignited the round inside. The explosion inside was so tremendous, the crew in it felt no pain as their time on the earth was taken so quickly.

The explosion inside more than tripled when the ammunition detonated from the heat and blew its turret that weighed in the tons, right off. The metal screws popped from their rivets, the vents and the exhaust pipes on the engine blew fire like a dragon.

Fire came out of the barrel like a flame thrower in overdrive for a quick second. Burning Nonna's shoulder. The metal shards from the exploding turret went right above her head. Any taller and the shards would've struck her brain.

The turret landed down on the ground upside down like a decapitated beast.

She couldn't believe it, she had lived, but who saved her.

Looking around, there she saw the Fv4005 coming out of the fire. The flames sending black burns marks up the hall but shrugging them off as nothing but a tattoo of war.

"We must move, from our position up there we saw an army of Shinano school tanks coming this way, more than likely their entire army," Hammond said into the radio.

Nonna was so relived that Hammond was alive, she was still processing in her mind as she took the order.

"How will we get away fast enough? Those Chi-Ris have a better top speed than we do" Nonna inquired

"We know an underground tunnel that stretches for miles, just follows us but keep your turret pointed backward"

"Roger that"

The Fv4005 floured it, causing it to lurch forward, sending chills up the backs of those in it. If they tipped over, they were done.

The IS-2 followed with its turret facing backward.

Crashing through lawns, sheds, and a few cars to take short cuts to the tunnel, they heard the Chi-Ris getting closer. The sound of all of their engines combined to make a blaring, hellish sound of the Japanese war machine.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The shells from the three Chi-Ris chasing them now came at them from behind but missing due to the vigorous turns they were making. However as they came to the straightaway that lead to the tunnel, their shots got more accurate. One ricochet off Nonna's turret and another narrowly missed her fuel tanks.

"You save you shot for the tunnel since I know what you might do," Nonna said on the radio.

"Fire away!"

BOOM!

The first shot missed the body of the Chi-Ri but clipped the track causing it to spin out of the chase. Her next shot missed, and then the second, but the third shot destroyed the second one.
