" You knew about the tracker all along, didn't you?" Harper accused as her fingers tightened around her purse. She didn't turn around but she could feel his looming presence behind her.
" It wasn't that hard. Could have been a bit more careful considering you kept your identity a secret for so long. I expected you to do the same with this. I'm actually quite disappointed little sister." His voice was taunting as he stalked in front of her, the small circular device in between his fingers.
He placed it on the table as he waved over a waiter. Harper finally got a good look at him.
His once messy midnight curls were gelled back. He wore a bright white suit with a black tie, quite an opposite from the other men who mainly wore black. He held himself with so much arrogance and confidence it startled her.
He grabbed two glasses of champagne before handing one to her. She took it skeptically, her hand slowly taking it from him. He chuckled at her behaviour.
" I'm not going to hurt you, if that's what you're worried about. I just came to talk." He reasoned.
" Talk. You haven't said anything in years or gave me any indication that you were alive and then suddenly for the first time in years I see you and you're working with the man that destroyed my life, who killed my friends. And you just want to talk. " her voice held sarcasm but there was an underlying sadness in her words. She was angry, what gave him the right.
" To be fair ,how would you have reacted. I kept tabs on you as you grew. I watched you build a life. Build a family. Make a name for yourself. I watched you fall in love. How would you have gone about little ole me turning up suddenly."
He did have a point. She didn't know how she would have reacted if he suddenly walsed into her life again. Maybe things would have turned out different. Maybe not.
Harper looked around. " Fine, we can talk. But not here."
" Sure thing."
The brother and sister pair had removed themselves from the party and found a deserted area near a fountain behind some hedges. They sat down on a bench, the moon and stars shimmered as if they have been waiting for this moment their whole lives. The fountain danced as the water flowed, the animals and birds filling the awkward silence.
