"Sasha time to get up and get ready, today is a big day." I groaned as my mother opened up my blinds, letting the light shine through. "Oh quit your groaning, you're lucky I let you sleep in. Hurry up, your breakfast is on the table." I heard her walk out of my room and close my door.
I sat up in my bed and looked out my window, my honey brown eyes adjusted to the bright light and I looked at Chicago in all it's glory. It was defiantly crumbling down and withering away, not right this minute, but it will in time. I pulled the covers off of me and threw my legs over the edge, "Let's get this day done and over with." I whispered to myself as I stood up.
I walked over to my closet, opened it, and scanned through all the blue articles of clothing before pulling out a simple blue shirt that had big black stripes going down the sides, a pair of blue pants, and just a pair of blue heels. I quickly got dressed before going to the bathroom to do what I need to do in there, "Sasha hurry up, you need to eat."
After I brushed my teeth, I quickly put on some mascara and lip gloss. I walked into the dining room to see some oatmeal with fruit on the table, "Thank you, mother." I sat down and started eating. "Are you excited for today?" I nodded my head at my mom, who sat across from me drinking her tea.
"Yeah I am, but I'm more excited about tomorrow." She smiled at me. "You do know that with you doing this, everything is going to be set right? And that I love you so much?" "Yes mom and I would do anything for you, you know that." She smirked at me for a moment, I hope I don't regret my words later.
"Grab your stuff, the car is out front waiting for you." I sat up from my chair, put my dish in the sink, and grabbed my backpack. I went to walk out the door before mother placed her hand on my shoulder to stop me, I turned around a smiled at her, "No matter what you get, you know where you must go tomorrow." I nodded my head and she smiled.
"I know mom." She quickly gave me a kiss on the forehead and I walked out the door. I walked down the hallway of our place and went to the elevator, I pressed the button and waiting for it to come up. As soon as the elevator doors opened, I walked inside it and pressed the lobby button.
Since my mom is the leader of Erudite, we live at the top of the compound so I have to leave the house a little earlier. Once I got to the lobby I was greeted by everyone down there, and I in return greeted them back, I walked outside to see my mom's car and her driver waiting by it. "Good morning Ms. Matthews." He opened the door for me, but instead of getting in, I saw someone get out.
"Damion!" I immediately ran over and gave him such a big hug. "Hello, sunshine, ready for that test?" I shrugged my shoulders. "As ready as I can be, right?" "Come on, we don't want you to be late now do we?" I shook my head and we both got in the car. "Oh after you get back from the test, your mom scheduled you to have one last training session before you leave and then have you help me in the lab." I sighed and looked out the window, watching the people pass by it.
"What else is new?" I mumbled. I heard Damion sigh and place his hand on my thigh, "Sasha, everything is going to be alright, I promise you." I looked over at him. His hazel eyes always seemed so shiny whenever he put his glasses on, he was wearing a nice well tailored royal blue suit, with a pair of black dress shoes, and his wedding band on his ring finger. "I know, I'm just stressed now that the two most important days in my life are actually here." Before he could speak, we both felt the car stop, signaling that we were at my school.
The door opened and I stepped out of the car before the driver closed the door Damion poked his head out. "I'll be right here to pick you up, okay?" I nodded my head and turned around to look at everyone. They were all lined up according to their factions, not one of them mixed, not one of them crisscrossed, they stuck to their own kind.
My thoughts were stopped when I heard the bells of school ring, today was my last day of being considered a child because tomorrow I become a member of society. I walked alongside my fellow students and made our way to the auditorium, where the principal started talking about how important the test is, blah blah blah, I hear this every day.
This lecture lasted a full hour and now we are all waiting to get called in for the test, "Sasha Matthews." My name blasted through the intercom. I got up from where I was sitting and walked into the back room where everyone had been coming in and out. I opened the door and noticed a Dauntless woman sitting in front of a computer, "Hello Ms.Matthews, have a seat." I really didn't like it when people called me like that, it sounds so formal.
"You can just call me Sasha." "I'll call you whatever your mom tells me to call you. My name is Tasha and I will be taking care of your test." I nodded my head and sat in the reclined chair. Tasha handed me a little shot glass filled with this blue liquid. "I'm assuming that this is going to knock me out?" She put these little electrodes on my temples. "Congrats Erudite, should I give you a gold star for answering the question correctly?" I shook my head and pulled the corners of my mouth up for a sly smile.
"Nah, but next time you plan on making me pass out, can you use something like whiskey? It creates a nice buzz." After that, I put the shot glass to my lips and tossed it back. "For an Erudite girl, you sure know how to drink like a Dauntless." I chuckled and handed her the glass. "You have no idea what I do when my mom isn't around." "I like you kid, if you choose Dauntless I guarantee that you have at least one friend." I tried to say thank you, but before I knew it I was knocked out cold.
