FREY
After class I headed to Chloe's building. I want to invite her for a cup of coffee before going home. Ilang araw na rin kaming hindi magkasabay pumasok at umuwi dahil nga abala ang team sa pag-papractice. Mas nauuna akong pumasok sa kanya at mas maaga naman siya kung umuwi kaysa sa akin.
I saw her storming out of cheer dance practice room, so I headed to her direction and greeted her.
"Chloe!"
"Oh Frey, wala kang practice?" she asked.
"Wala, my last class just finished so I decided to fetch you para sabay na tayo." Nakangiting sagot ko
Chloe bit her lower lip and look at me. "Ah...Frey ano kasi eh," she paused and breath heavily.
"What?" I don't know but my heart suddenly rage waiting for her answer.
"May kasabay kasi ako," kagat-labing tugon niya.
"Sino? Si Hyena ba?" Hyena was her girl best friend and of course I was her guy best friend.
"Ah...do you remember my blind date? The one that Hyena set up was for me."
"Ah..." I paused, unable to finish my sentence. So that's the reason why she's hesitant to accept my invitation?
"May usapan kasi kami na mag-movie ngayon after class. He texted me, he's on the way na raw kaya hihintayin ko na lang siya sa lobby."
"Gan'on ba?" I bowed my head unable to look at her. Sayang akala ko pa naman magkakasabay kami ngayon. "Okay, just enjoy."
"Frey I'm sorry, naka-oo na kasi ako sa kanya. Nakakahiya naman kung ika-cancel ko 'di ba?"
"Don't be sorry. Next time na lang tayo lumabas. For sure there were many next time naman 'di ba?" I try to make my voice lively so she can't feel sorry for me. "Mag-ingat ka na lang."
"Of course Frey, next time na lang. And don't worry, Dwayne is a nice guy. Ilang linggo ko pa lang siyang kilala but I can say naman that he's a nice guy."
I just nodded in respond. Our conversation interrupted when someone, approaches her. Chloe smiled as she him a cheek to cheek, after that she turned to me.
"Frey this is Dwayne, and Dwayne siya si Frey my best friend."
I choked with my own saliva as I hear her introduce me to the guy. Pero pinilit kong ngumiti.
Best friend?
Maybe hanggang do'n na nga lang kami. Well...I was the one who set the boundary but I don't know why I feel sad about it.
"Hi Pare nice to meet you." Out of a good manner, I extended my hand to him for a handshake, which he gladly accept. Tama si Chloe, he seems a nice guy.
"Hi Pare, you look familiar, if I'm not mistaken you're the team captain of the Patriots?"
"Yes ako nga, and you're the team captain of San Gabriel right?" He also look familiar, and base on his uniform, he's a student at San Gabriel. Kaya naman nakilala ko siya.
"Yes ako nga," nakangiting sagot ng lalaki
"Frey, as much as we want to have chat with you, I guess we have to go. Baka magsimula na kasi 'yong movie," paalam ni Chloe, which makes me frown. Parang excited na talaga siyang umalis kasama yong lalaki.
"Ah... sure, baka mahuli nga kayo," sagot ko at nagkunwari pang tumingin sa aking relong pambisig.
"Frey Pare, don't worry, ihahatid ko rin agad si Chloe."
"Yah, just drive safely." Tumango muna ako kay Chloe bago tumalikod sa kanila. I guess from now on, thing will not going to be the same as before. And no one to blame but myself.
