Jimin had started becoming proficient in using his wings. He could now zip around without resting for up to twenty minutes at a time. Granted, it wasn't too much, but it was loads compared to when he first started. Jimin was looking forwards to the day where he can go on
infinitely. He had also become more comfortable with showing his wings to people around him, the stares diminishing. Of course, it was just to flaunt it in other people's faces, should they be disagreeable. But most of the time he just kept them hidden away due to how large they were and how much hallway they blocked.
But it would seem, that rumours of his wings had begun to spread as well.
"Rumours about your wings had already started to spread beyond our kingdom." Chanyeol commented before spearing a watermelon on a wooden pick and stuffing it into his mouth. Jimin whipped around to stare at him incredulously. "What? I thought we - the council and us, agreed on not spreading the information around?" Hoseok sighed.
"Sure, but when it comes to loud mouths, you can't exactly trace it back to one person, because by that time, a lot of people know about it already." Hoseok explained. "We can't stop them by now, if they have spread already. News like this travels fast and can go out of control."
Jimin sighed and carded a hand through his hair. "I guess-, the rumours are okay. I mean, they're just wings? They're not powerful or anything, just-, new." Even though Jimin had tried to convince himself that that was the case, that his wings were weak and not really worth a bad guys attention, he still had an uncomfortable nagging feeling at the pit of his stomach.
He didn't voice it however, didn't want to put unwarranted worry into his friends minds.
"I heard you can last quite a while now on your wings." Jin said, trying to bring up another topic as no one had spoken for a while. Jimin nodded quickly. "Yes! I can go for twenty minutes now, and I think I can maybe even go forever if I keep it up! Well not forever, but a really long time!"
Jin smiled warmly. "That's really good news Jimin, I'm really happy for you." Jimin flushed prettily and stared down at his lap.
Just then, Namjoon came around the corner and beckoned towards Jimin. "Jimin, there's something I need to ask you." Jimin cocked his head curiously before getting up and following Namjoon out of the room.
Namjoon lead him into another room, checking for people inside before closing the door. He leaned back against the wall with his arms crossed.
"So...what's up?" Jimin asked, a bit nervous since he didn't know what he did to warrant Namjoon pulling him aside.
"Jimin, I need you to do something for me." Namjoon says suddenly, and Jimin's eyebrows jumped. "Uh, sure?" Namjoon gestured wings that Jimin had let out to air them after keeping them hidden for a couple hours. "Can you explain to me the process of hiding and revealing your wings?"
Jimin stared at him before thinking. "Well, I kinda, gather energy? I don't know if it makes sense, but I sort of gather or condense it into a spot to reveal my wings. To take it away, I retract the energy and spread it around." Namjoon nodded thoughtfully. "Could you do it with your hands this time? Concentrate energy around your hands?"
Jimin thought about it. Huh.
He lifted his hands up and concentrated, his brows furrowing as he tried to replicate the process on his hands. It took some time, as he had never done it before, but soon enough, a soft pink glow appeared, but was soon gone.
"I think that's all I can do. Why? Is there something about it that I don't know?" Jimin questioned, looking at Namjoon expectantly. Namjoon didn't move for a second, but eventually nodded his head.
"Yes, in fact. Say, Jimin, have you ever gotten cuts? Small cuts, from papers or small accidents?" Jimin nodded slowly, seemingly catching on what Namjoon was implying.
"You think I can heal?" Namjoon shrugged. "It's a hypothesis. But the fact you can do that-," he motioned towards his hands. "It's a very real possibility." Jimin stared at him.
"You're shitting me aren't you." Namjoons eyes go wide before he chuckled. "Did you learn from Jin how to swear?" Jimin glared at him, and Namjoon scrambled to correct himself. "Forget what I said. Anyways, would you like to test it out?"
"How?"
"Like this."
Namjoon but his thumb, his canines making it easy to pierce through his skin. Blood welled out, sliding down his skin and onto the floor. "Try." Namjoon prompted, and with shaking hands, Jimin repeated what he did before.
At first, nothing happens. Then, slowly, the skin started to knit together until nothing was left except blood. The two of them stood there in silence, Namjoon processing this fact at Jimin staring dumbly at Namjoons now healed thumb.
"That's confirms it." Namjoon muttered lowly. "Listen, Jimin. This isn't like your wings. This is way more dangerous than that. Someone with a healing ability? Many people would do anything to get their hands on it, do you understand?" Jimin nodded mutely. "We can tell the group, since they are people we know we can trust, however, this will not be said to other people, including council members, you hear?" When Jimin nodded his assent, Namjoon leaned back, satisfied.
"Now let's get back before Jin comes to drag our asses back."
