31st December 2020

The dark sky filled with only some stars and large moon that brightened the sky. Everyone were looking at it with pure happiness while others were looking at it with pure hatred and sadness.

Everyone were sitting at the top of the building's rooftop. Couples, friends and families were sitting together talking happily while some others; couples were eating each other in the corner.

Lots of things were heard like goals, dreams and future plans for the upcoming year.

"Get ready guys! It's time to countdown!" One of the girls shouted and immediately the crowd went silent for the signal.

"10."

The crowd chanted together.

"9."

Some kids yelled 'goodbyes' to the old year and other yelled some happy things that should happen in the upcoming year.

Peace and NO coronavirus.

"8."

Smiling faces filled the crowd as they looked up at the sky.

"7."

"6."

"5."

"Bye Bye bad year!" A kid yelled at the back making the rest of the crowd chuckle.

"4."

"3."

"2."

. . .

Silence engulfed.

BOOM BOOM!

Explosions of colorful fireworks filled the sky. Everyone hugged each other and watched the sky lighting up with lights with happy remarks.

A boy's chubby cheeks turned red and his eyes turned into little crescent moons, plumps lips widening to form a small toothy smile.

Lonely, he stood between the crowds with his headphones on blasting some music in his ears.

❝ Because the dawn right before the sun rises is the darkest
Even in the far future, never forget the you of right now
Wherever you are right now, you're just taking a break
Don't give up, you know
Don't get too far away, tomorrow

Eyes closed, he listened to the music blasting. His breathing steady and heartbeat beating constantly.

"Hopefully..." He breathed out as he looked up at the sky, watching the lonely moon getting lit up with all the colorful explosions.
