Heidi's P.O.V.
“S-S-Saving grace? I-I don’t understand. Where were you months ago, and what do you mean by saving grace?”
“Oh Heidi, silly girl. I’m your guardian, and months ago I was assigned to watch over you through the good and the bad. I’m your protector, your reason you’re still alive.”
“B-But why didn’t I know this before?” I stuttered.
“Before, you were alone. But- do you remember all the times where you felt a presence? That was me. I’ve always been there you just didn’t know it.”
I took a moment to take all of this in.
“So let me get this straight. Your name is Alexander, and you’re my angel?”
“Not exactly an angel. Notice my color of wings? I’m still earning the beauty.”
I stared at him. He didn’t know but he was already beautiful. He was pale. He had black hair and was in all black, with no shoes to speak of. His wings were giant and radiant.
The walls began to shake and I fell to the floor.
“Wha-what’s happening?” I glued myself in one place on the floor.
“You’ll see, you’ll see.” His devilishly beautiful smile showing in the dim lit elevator shaft.
The walls began to shift and change. I covered my head feeling nauseous.
When I looked up the beautiful skyline was in front of me. Looking around I realized that we were very high up.
“Where are we?” I said feeling astonished.
“On the hat of the statue of liberty.”
Looking around at the vacant, desolate Liberty Island, New York. You could tell that it was once inhabited by wealthy people.
Skyscrapers stood tall in the distance.
“Why’d you bring me here?” I turned to ask him.
“Why not? It’s beautiful here and I reckon’ you’ve never been, right?” His pearly white toothy grin made me crack a smile.
“No, I reckon’ I haven’t.” I smiled back at him turning to enjoy the view. After hours of endless chat, I wanted to return home to Davin.

Davins P.O.V.
I sat on the couch. I haven't been this lonely before. It had been days, I haven't felt or heard from Heidi. All the sudden I heard this cry, confused I got up and walked into my bedroom. It was empty. Then I walked into Heidi’s room, and on the bed was Nina, my little baby sister. I was shocked, wondering what had happened to her. I had no time for wondering though, because there was a weird noise in the front room. I paused. I dashed to the door and closed it, running into Heidi’s closet, it was empty of course. I slid against the wall. Closing my eyes and trying to get Nina to be quiet.
The noise got closer. My lungs closed, I could feel perspiration on my forehead. Scared wasn't even good word for how I felt at that moment. I was petrified down to my bones, if I was to try to get up right now, I wouldn't be able to. I was frozen with fear and remorse for Nina. Her life hadn't even begun yet, and she was already in this place.
The noise stopped at Heidi’s bedroom door. I knew it wasn't her because I couldn't feel her, I couldn't sense her. Her bedroom door opened, and I squeezed my eyes shut, wishing I had some kind of weapon, even though they had to be useless here. I'd feel more safe.
There were footsteps, and they paused and I heard a loud squeak. They had sat down on Heidi’s bed. Then I heard another squeak, and a loud thump. Then there was a scratch at the door. I tried not to scream, it was so scary. Then there was another one, and after that another one. I stopped breathing for a moment. That was until I heard a sound that was oh so familiar. "Tod." I said. I opened the door, and my dog ran into the closet, licking me on my face. I had never been so happy in my entire life to see this dog’s face.
It was after I had opened the closet door, that I noticed Tod wasn't alone. He was the lure.
I screamed and slid back into the closet, as a man in full black came towards me. I couldn't see his face, but in his pocket was the outline of something, and he reached his hand towards it. I closed my eyes, waiting for the sound of movement. I heard the man cry out, and looked up to see that Tod had attacked him.
I jumped up and ran as fast as i could with Nina in my hands, out the door and as far away as I could. I cried for Tod, hoping that some way he wouldn't be hurt because of me. I never stopped running, hoping that Nina wouldn't get sick on me. I wondered in my head how I was going to take care of her when I could barely take care of myself. At this point, there was no choice.
I stopped to make sure she was okay. The minute I stopped, I felt a pressure against my back, and I hit the ground, falling on top of Nina. I turned around, to see what had happened. I screamed in agony when I saw the arrowhead stuck in my back. I remember a faint pain in my spine that tingled up to my neck. I blacked out, realizing that in the arrow, had to be poison.
