Sunghoon watched as Nari left the class with Jay. She hadn't smiled all day. That incident happened in the morning, it was now time to go home. And she hadn't smiled.
It made him sad, to see her like that.
He walked out behind her, wanting to approach her but unsure of how to do that. What would he say? He hadn't even managed to find where the other girl had hidden the flowers. He was certain which area of the school they were in, but he didn't know exactly where. He hadn't had the time to really search.
When they walked out of the classroom, the girl was waiting for Nari.
"Where are the flowers?" Nari snapped, holding out her hands. "I need them. Now."
The girl rolled her eyes, laughing. "They're in the dumpster of course. Why? What were you planning on doing with them? Were you going to confess to someone today? What about Heeseung? Have you forgotten about him already?"
"Hey," Jay said angrily, stepping up and putting a hand on Nari's shoulder. He glared at the other girl. "Just because Heeseung didn't like you doesn't give you any reason to be nasty."
"And you're always with Jay," the girl continued, her gaze never wavering from Nari. "Doesn't he have a girlfriend already? What are you trying to do?"
"Just. Give. Me. The. Flowers," Nari whispered, her voice deadly serious.
The girl shrugged. "I can't. I told you, they're in the-"
Her words were cut off when Nari punched her.
There was a collective gasp from all the students watching, and then everyone seemed to hold their breath, waiting to see what would happen next.
Nari started to walk away, but the other girl tackled her to the floor, screaming and trying to hit her as well, but Nari was a much better fighter. Much tougher than she seemed.
"What's going on here?"
At the sound of a teacher's voice, immediately the students scattered.
"We should go now," Jake whispered to him.
Sunghoon shook his head, unable to move. He wanted to help her. But how?
"Nari started it!" the girl whispered, crying. Her cheek was beginning to swell from where Nari had punched her.
"She took something of mine," Nari snapped. "Something important to me."
"And was that any reason to start fighting in the middle of the hallway? Are you kidding me?" the teacher said, glaring at only Nari. The other girl seemed to be let completely off the hook.
"I'm sorry," Nari whispered after a moment.
"Go to detention," the teacher said. "Now."
Again, he was only talking to Nari.
"This isn't fair," Sunghoon whispered to Jake. "Why is she the only one getting in trouble?"
"Look at her, and then look at the other girl. Nari looks untouched and the other girl... is a mess. It really does look as though Nari just attacked her."
Sunghoon sighed, watching Nari walk away.
He had an hour. An hour to find those flowers and return them to her.
