Sunghoon hadn't seen Nari in days.
He missed her. He missed her like crazy, which was kind of funny considering that he hadn't even started talking to her until recently.
But in that time, his feelings for her became stronger. She was no longer someone he admired from afar, but she was someone that he really liked spending time with.
And now he missed her.
"Hey," Jake whispered, snapping his fingers in front of Sunghoon's face. "You're spacing out again."
"Sorry," Sunghoon sighed, trying to concentrate on what the teacher was saying.
"You're thinking about her, aren't you? If you're so worried... why don't you just call her or something?"
Sunghoon's heart skipped a beat. Call her?
"What if she wants to be alone, with her family?" he whispered back.
"Then she'll ignore your call," Jake sighed. "Just call her already," he insisted, getting up as the dismissal bell rang and the teacher left. "Call her now. While I'm here. Because I know you'll say that you will, and then you will chicken out."
Sunghoon pouted at his phone. He did want to talk to her, but...
Jake took Sunghoon's phone, opening the passcode and going to Nari's contact, pressing call and then putting the phone back in Sunghoon's hand.
Sunghoon just stared at it for a moment.
She picked up, and he almost dropped his phone in surprise.
"Hello?" he said nervously, bringing the phone to his ear.
"Hi," she answered, and he was relieved to hear her sounding happier than before. "What's up?"
"Nothing, I was just... I was just worried about you," he said, stumbling over his words. He was glad she wasn't here to see what a blushing mess he was.
There was a pause at the other end of the line, and then, "you were?"
He blushed harder, his pulse skittering at her happy voice. He could practically hear her smiling over the phone.
"Ugh, I'm going to be sick," Jake said dramatically, rolling his eyes. "I'm leaving."
Sunghoon nodded goodbye to Jake, his mind desperately trying to figure out what else he should say. But he was left in awkward silence.
"Do you want to meet me?" Nari asked suddenly.
"What?" he pressed a hand against his chest, desperately trying to calm the rapid beating of his heart. "Yes! Where...?"
"Here," she said, hanging up.
Sunghoon stared at his phone in bewilderment. "Where is... here?" he wondered aloud.
"Here, silly," Nari's voice said, and when he looked up, there she was, standing in the doorway of the classroom.
His eyes widened, and he ran over to her. He wanted to reach out and hug her, but stopped short.
Nari's eyes became teasing as she looked at him, and she stepped forward, closing the distance between them and wrapping her arms around him in a hug. She placed her head on his chest.
"Your heart is beating rather fast," she commented playfully.
"I... well... that's because..." he said, struggling to think of something to say.
"Mine is too," she said, peering up at him. "It always does that around you. I wonder why?" she murmured, reaching up and touching his face. "You're blushing too," she commented.
He hid his face behind his hands, and she laughed, letting go of him. "Want to go for a walk with me?"
"Okay," he mumbled, unable to look at her.
She pulled his hands down from his face and linked her arm with his. "Let's go!"
