'REMEMBER WHEN we talked all night?' ————————— —————————-
𝐍𝐎 𝐎𝐍𝐄'𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐕 JUNE 19TH, 2019
"YOU SAID YOU hate storms."
A mental debate was really needed. However in that moment, she felt terrible for the boy. Yeah, she had a bad day. But that was no reason to discredit the fact that he obviously did to. She nodded towards his boots, before pointing to the ground bellow. "Seriously?"
"You're not tracking mud into my room. Off."
So, he did as she asked. He removed his boots and let them drop down to the ground bellow. She sighed, moving out of the way and going to grab a towel. He took this opportunity to step into her room and close the window. He quickly rushed to her bathroom, not wanting to drip all over the carpet.
She returned and gave him the towel, before instructing him to sit on the countertop. He does. She leaves him to dry off as much as possible while she sneaks into her brothers room, grabbing some warm clothes. A pair of grey sweats and a black hoodie. She threw them at him. Hard. "Ow?"
"Take your shirt off." She said, going underneath her sink and pulling out the first aid kit that her mother used to force her to have 24/7. Now, she was thankful. JJ was going to make a snarky comment about her wanting to get him naked, but he reframed due to that fact she was obviously still mad at him.
So, he did as she asked. She took the soaking shirt from him before asking him to change out of his shorts and into the sweats she brought. He did. She took his wet clothes downstairs and put them in the wash for him. When she returned back upstairs he was about to put on the hoodie, but she stopped him. "It's cold." He stated; but she doesn't say anything, just takes it away.
She takes a makeup wipe from her drawer and cleans off the dirt from his face. Then, she pours a bit of Alcohol onto a cotton round. "This is gonna hurt. But shut up, my brother's sleeping." She stated dryly, making him frown. She'd never been this way with him.
She ran the piece of cotton along his cheekbone, cleaning his cuts. He hissed in pain at first, before taking a few deep breaths. I mean, getting 'em hurt worse..right?
"I'm sorry."
JJ almost couldn't believe his own words. Since when did he apologize to people? Since when did he show up to someone's house in the middle of a fucking hurricane because he was worried about some chick? All this, for a chick? That wasn't JJ, but that was also his problem. He never cared about some girl enough to do all this. But Briellah wasn't just some girl.
She let her eyes flick to his for a moment, before looking back down at his cut. "For what?"
'Oh god she's gonna make me say it?'
"For snapping at you. And for what I said...about suffering. I didn't mean that, I was just pissed at my dad." He tried to justify it, but as each word left his lips he became more and more guilty. It was like saying it out loud made it real. But she was almost as stubborn as him. "Maybe you should learn to control your outbursts, then." She muttered, reaching for a new cotton pad and preparing it. He sighed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it, okay?"
She nodded. "I know you didn't mean it, JJ. What frustrates me is the fact that you still took that out on me. You knew I was only there to help." She said; tugging his bottom lip down with her thumb slowly, before cleaning his cut there. He wanted to kiss her so bad.
When he didn't respond, she spoke again. "Why are you here, JJ?" She sighed, moving down to rub some healing cream on the bruise that began to form on his abdomen. He shrugged, as if to say 'I dunno'. "You do know. You just won't tell me."
He sighed yet again. She really didn't get it. "No. I actually don't know. I don't know why I'm here or why I care but I do so, here I am."
She looked up slowly, to see him looking down at her with sad eyes. And that's when she saw it. He wanted to be good. He wanted to be around and to have a constant in his life. He just didn't know how. He was only a boy, and he was broken beyond repair. He didn't know how to handle someone caring, so he snapped.
Briellah reached a hand up to cup his cheek softly. He leaned into the unfamiliar kind touch, his eyes fluttering. "Whatever he said to you today...?" She started, making him open his eyes to look at her. The moment the topic was brought up, a tear fell from his left eye.
JJ was not used to be vulnerable around anyone. Especially a girl he'd just met. But he just let it fall. He didn't know why. She removed the tear slowly with her thumb, making him close his eyes at the movement. "It isn't true. Because I think you're extraordinary, JJ Maybank."
And that was it. He was done for. Tears falling faster than anyone could ever imagine. Sobs fell past his lips every other second, and he fell forwards off the counter. Only this time..someone was there to catch him.
She wrapped her arms around the boys neck in a heartbeat, as he sobbed into her shoulder. She rubbed small circles on his back, and used her free hand to softly play with his hair in hopes it'd calm him down.
She led him over to her bed and layed on her back, similar to the way her brother had for her just a few hours prior. She leant her back against her headboard and allowed JJ to lay on top of her. He placed his chest flush against hers and dug his head further into her neck. His arms wrapped around her body as she continued her pervious motions on his back and head.
She let him cry for awhile, whispering sweet nothings into his ear about how he was safe now and she wasn't going to leave him alone. The noises coming from his lips made her heart ache. But, a few dozen minutes went by and the boy was sound asleep in her arms. So, she did the only thing she could do. She kissed his head, and fell asleep herself.

A deep sigh left Sebastian's lips the next morning. He was expected at work in 15. But he wanted to check on his sister first, especially after last night. And here she was. Laying with a blond boy that fit the exact description he'd guessed to her that night she had come home all giddy.
She told him his name was JJ, and people from work had told him quite a bit about the boy. Always starting fights. Cutting school and stealing stuff. Trespassing and running from security guards. Hooking up with new girls after every OBX party. Constantly drinking and smoking. Your typical island bad boy. But Sebastian didn't believe it. Not fully.
And even if it was true; which it was, there had to have been more to it than that. Seb knew, because he knew his sister. A smart girl, that didn't hang around low-life idiots just cause they had a pretty face and a big charm. So, he left them be. Almost smiling at the fact her sister finally seemed okay. She appeared happy, even in sleep.
