THAT SAME AFTERNOON

SITTING AT THAT SMALL booth in Danny's Diner was nothing unfamiliar for the sixteen year old Blond boy——but the girl that sat across from him? That was a different story. JJ felt like he always screwed everything up, and he wanted nothing more than to let this thing run all the way through. He hasn't quite figured out why he didn't want to mess things up with Briellah so badly——his lack of experience in the actual liking of a girl was really starting to shine through. At this point, he was so clueless he didn't even know of his feelings yet.

He just knew he felt different around her. With her. Looking at her. Thinking of her. Driving by her house knowing she's home. Sitting with the Pogues at the same spot on the beach that they'd surfed together. Stepping into The Wreck knowing it was where he'd first seen her close up. Walking down that road he helped her with her car troubles on when he went to work, knowing it had been the first time they spoke.

He was so stupid.

He just didn't want to fuck this up. Whatever; this, was——yet every time he tried to make things better he only seemed to screw with them more. He didn't mean to. He just didn't know much better.

"You're awfully quiet this morning."

Her words came just as soft as they always did, snapping the blond from his wondering thoughts. "Just sleepy" he lied, making her raise her brows once in slight annoyance. 'There's another screw up' he thought to himself.

'She knows you're lying, dude. Dont just sit there, say something. Fix it, dumbass.'

"Sorry, I don't mean to be boring I just have a lot on my mind, I guess." He tried, making her look up at him again. Her face of annoyance quickly switched into a look of concern.

'Oh god, please don't ask'

"Everything okay, blondie?"

'And she asked. Fuck. Sometimes I wish she wasn't so considerate. I cant tell her she's the thing on my mind. She'll think she's bothering me. Or that I'm insane. Either way, not ideal. God, and stop calling me that. It gets me all worked up. Seriously? And now I'm taking too long to answer. Shit, something quick something quick'
