Hopefulness

While You Are Gone (⚠️🚨TRIGER WARNING🚨⚠️)

I'm standing in my own puddle of blood.
I'm failing to tear my eyes off the image of you.
Tears flow.
And the hole in my chest is raw and stinks,
And the heart is on the floor offering an occasional pathetic movement.
I breathe deeply, and stand idle.

All of it happens while you are gone.


I'm sitting in my own pool of blood.
Your image is still in my eyes.
My eyes are bloodshot but not puffy any longer.
The tears don't stop streaming.
They've made my cheeks raw and bleeding.
The heart seems to shift each hour.
The floor is grey and cold. My skin is pale.
I shiver continually, breathing in gasps.

All of it happens while you are gone.



I'm laying in my own pond of blood.
I can't get the image of you out of my head.
My tears have made my skin so raw, the flesh is white and nearing bone.
The heart twitches once a day.
The hole is healing, and the heart won't ever fit back as it was.
My breaths are wheezy and painful.
My skin is ice cold.
My ribs show.
The colder it gets the redder my nose and cheeks are, and the blood freezes to my face.
My joints are sore and swollen.
I don't move.

All of it happens while you are gone.




I'm covered in my own lake of blood.
My eyes are still open and the image of you is frozen over them.
My tears run over the bone, as they've eaten my flesh away.
The heart no longer beats, and it's growing smaller, still emptying.
My lungs collapse, empty.
My body has grown stiff and hard.
And I am no more, and yet no less dead than when it began.

All of it happens while you are gone.



I am floating in my own ocean of blood and tears.
I'm found by the caring ones.
They take turns, breathing into my mouth.
They take turns pumping the heart.
They take turns wiping my tears.
They take turns moving my joints.
But they cannot open my vacant chest.
They cannot close my bedeviled eyes.
They keep trying to keep me warm, but I'm cold from the inside out.
I'm still as dead in life as one can be, and....

All of it happens while you are gone.
