I thought he was in New York University already. What is he doing here?

"Jamal?" I call. "Urm.."

"What's up?" He sits beside me. "Sup Praise?"

"Doing good. Didn't know you'd come here, I thought you would stay till after College.."

"I came to check up on Karen. I heard what that bossy thing did," he says. I wish people can stop bringing up that stuff about Asher. It just reminds me of everything that happened and how I'm left to carry every burden on my own.

"How're you?" he asks.

I nod. "Good. How is Lexa?"

"She's fine, but in New York right now."

"Your step mom and sisters too?" Praise asks.

"They're here with Dad. Lexa and I are staying with our older cousin."

"That's good to know. You didn't have to stress yourself by leaving NY to come and check on me, I'm fine. You could have simply called on phone or just facetime." I shrug, opening the pack of cookies.

"You know I'd go through any stress for you right?" He smirks.

Praise clears his throat. "I'm still here please."

"Oh...are you two together?"

"Well, he's just..."

"No, but we are more than friends to each other," Praise replies.

"Nice though. Lemme say hi to the lil apple in there." He touches my tummy and rubs it. I feel this stuff like a con-joined coconuts going round inside my tummy. "Sup lil apple? It's your uncle here, Jamal. Wanna know how you doing..." He giggles and places his ear on my tummy then gets up again. "Lil apple chuckled." He giggles. "It said it can't wait to see its momma's face."

I blush a little. "How do you know?"

He winks at me. "You still won't understand if I explain to you. It's our own logic..."

"I think guys understand baby language more," Praise chips in.

"Such a stupid thought." I chuckle.

"So dude, ain't you done checking up on her? She's fine as you can see and oh, you should have a place to go to now right?" Praise says sarcastically.

"Chill, I was about leaving. My Dad needs me anyways. Bye Karen, heart you!" He gives me a peck and leaves.

"Douche! He didn't have to interfere with our meeting..."

"Picnic," I correct.

"Whatever."

"Why are y'all still beefing? Drop that high school immaturity you both had last year.."

"I just don't like the guy."

"But why?" I scoop my coleslaw into my mouth.

"Such a brat." Praise scoffs. "Anyways, let's not bring his topic in our talks. We gotta enjoy this time alone."

Which we do anyways because he makes it fun and I get to ride on a donkey since I did not want to ride a horse because it was higher.

Later at night, I am unable to sleep. All I have been thinking of lately is Asher. What if we didn't have a baby coming our way? What if that party never happened? My life would have been fine, except a break-up would have hurt. Zara is lucky to have Dylan up till this moment, even though he is in Canada now. Like, I'm afraid for her. The guy gets to see other finer girls in Canada. Maybe they have their ways though.
