Fourth month — Happy Birthday to Jamal and Merry Christmas.

Fifth month — Happy New Year and 'would-have-been' anniversary to me and Asher.

Sixth month — Happy Valentine's and Happy Seventeenth birthday to me.

I still have Asher's necklace in my 'junk' drawer. It still kinda matters to me.

Seventh month — Happy Birthday to my siblings and to Praise.

Really special people in my life. I'm grateful I have them.

Eighth month — It's Easter celebration and wedding anniversary to my parents.

I have two weeks or maybe three weeks before my baby is born. I don't know how I survived those months though. They were stressful. I couldn't stand up myself, couldn't sit without supporting my waist, couldn't go up and down the stairs without help, Mom doesn't let me do anything in the house and just recently, she had bought baby clothes. I don't know how she knows the sex of my baby but she bought them anyways and have kept them, I haven't even set eyes on any of them. This whole thing makes me nervous. Any day from today can get me in labour.

Lord please help me survive.

There is something that keeps me busy day-dreaming nowadays — Asher's birthday. It's on the 20th. That's a week from now. I don't know why I have been thinking about this dude anyways. It just keeps happening to me. I am not even sure he even remembers me, he must have moved on. I have to move on. He gave up on supporting me, I have given up on him too. I can do this on my own, I won't be the first single mom.

"Hey, what are you thinking of sef?" Zara asks me, rolling her noodles around her fork.

"She has been zoning out a lot," Praise says.

"Nothing. I'm trying to imagine this seventeen year old me having someone call me 'mommy', I feel weird already," I reply.

"You always say that and now I'm starting not to believe you. Look, no need to worry. Everyone is excited. Can't you see the smile that has been on your grandma's face lately? Talk more of your mom. We all know you're gonna survive this ok? Just relax and wait. Stay indoors and don't forget to exercise."

"We're here for you," Praise adds.

"Thanks guys." I pick up a chopped carrot with my fork and put it in my mouth.

"For some reason, I wanted to stop you from getting close to Asher but I figured out you liked him so much and I didn't want to come in between. I gave up cause the guy basically gets all he wants without stress."

"And me sef was all team Ashren anyways. Stupid me." Zara hisses and slaps her forehead. "Like, every girl was dying for that guy and I wanted my bestie to get a chance. If only I knew Praise existed and cared more on a low-key."

"Whatever..." I say, concentrating more on my food. "He's gone. He left my life."

"Abi sef? So Praise, between Joshua and Royal, which name should we give her baby boy? I have a feeling it's gonna be a boy."

Me too.

"How do you know?" Praise asks.

"When someone is pregnant with a male child, they look so tired and scattered. Look at Karen's face, there's pimples all over," Zara replies.
