"Lost as in how?" Mrs Violet asks, trying her best not to lose it. "Minho, what do you mean?"
"Are you sure it isn't some kind of mistake?" Zara asks.
"It can't be true!" Mrs Violet yells. "What kind of lost do you mean? You know, there are many definitions."
Just now, Karen's dad comes in with his other two kids and Nkem.
Kayla and Kayden go to Praise.
"Where's Karie?" Kayla asks.
"Urm...she is..."
"What happened to my sister?" Kayden asks, already feeling the bad atmosphere. "Where is Karie?"
Suddenly, the clouds get dark and it starts to rain.
"Mommy!" Kayla tries rushing up to her mom but Mrs Violet pushes Minho aside and goes in to see her daughter whom she would never believe is dead.
Mr Andrews goes in too, with fear and trying not to get a heart attack. Everyone comes in and gets shocked to see Karen's pale face and lifeless body on the bed. She still had the oxygen but the girl isn't breathing anymore.
"Karie!" Kayla screams in fear while Zara tries covering her eyes.
"Chisom!" Her mom goes over to her and shakes her but she doesn't wake up. "Chisom wake up, your mom is here now ok? I'm giving you my every support, my all and all now." Her mom cries.
"Chisom..." Her dad calls out in pain and hold her cold hands.
"My bestfriend..." Kayden touches Karen's cold feet, and cries on them. "..Karie please wake up.." He shakes her feet.
"Golden please wake up please...don't...leave me here," Kayla cries.
"Karen..." Zara calls and her stare makes the tear fall. "Karen..."
"Sissy please?" Kayla joins her hands together and kneels beside Karen's death bed. "Sissy please?" She lets out a sigh, and wipe her tears with her small hands. "Please come back...to me.." Her voice gets shaky. "Lord...please bring my sister back.." She prays and wipes her tears off.
"Karie, please just come back and smile for us again. Please come and sing for me again...please..." Kayden says. "Please come and help me find my shoe again..please..."
"Chisom? Please nau, pity your mother and come oo? Nne? Just come back, don't leave me the way those ones did...ehhh? Please? Please, I'm begging you..." She squeezes Karen's hand.
Praise squats and buries his face in his palms, trying to hide his tears. "No no no Karen...please hear me out wherever you are...please come back...I really love you ok?" He swallows his tears and sobs silently.
"Bestie..are you going to throw away
our love? Our plans? Our times? Our laughter? Our fierceness? Our goals? Are you going to just leave? What about us? How do you want us to feel...?"
Even when nobody notices, Karen has tears dropping down even though she is still lifeless.
"If you leave sadly, what's the point? Why don't you come back and prove you're fierce this time around huh?" Kayden kicks the leg of the hospital bed. "What's the point of practicing the song Kayla and I will sing for you when you're out of here? Do we look like kids to you still? Why does it have to be when we're so attached to you? Karen, what's your problem?! Why are you going?! Why are you making me hate you for leaving?! Why?!" Kayden breaks down and sits on the floor, drawing his knees up and burying his face in them.
"Sissy you haven't tasted my meatpies yet...Look, I brought these ones for you, Nkem helped me. I pwomise, I helped Nkem now..." Kayla brings out the wrapped stuffs from her tiny bag. "They're two but please..." Kayla kneels in a tired way and stretches her hand out, bowing her face. "...please eat these ones first. I'll make more if we go home..Kay, I promise..."
The little girl just can't stop crying.
"No!!!!! God you won't let this happen!" Mrs Violet kneels down and looks up at the ceiling. "Ahhh! God please? Have mercy on me and bring back this one please. Please God. I already lost five before having her, I lost three before having these other two...please...For lord, you said in Phillipians 4 vs 6 that we should not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God. I've come to you on my knees to help me out. I have faith in you. I intercede...oh Lord please..."
Karen drops her stuff on the floor and closes her eyes to pray while Mrs Veronica is already praying silently. Zara just can't stop crying and thinking of all the lovely memories with her bestfriend.
"Oh Lord...please, bring Karie back to life. Please check for her name, it's Karen Andrews Chisom..please tell her to return that it isn't yet her time. Please hear my prayer, please wipe away my mommy and my daddy's tears. Please help us Lord. Please return her breath." She swallows her tears but she ends up breaking down again. "Please God...let her come and say hi to us. Even if it just a hi or eat a little. Please, even if it is for her to smile at us again. Please Lord. In Isaiah chapter forty verse thirty one, you said for us who hope in the Lord will renew our strength. And you said in Psalm 30 vs 5: Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. Romans 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Please Lord, we know you are for us, please help us get Karen back...oh Lord..."
The nurses come in to take the dead body out and keep it in the morgue.
"No, not yet!" Zara stops them. "Just leave her here, she's alive."
"She isn't ma'am. We're sorry for her loss," the nurse replies.
"Just hold on, she is alive. Ah ah," Praise's mom says. "Just leave her here."
"Please leave her here, she is just breathing a little," Kayden says.
"Okay then, but we'll be back in an hour to get the girl to the morgue," the other nurse says and they leave.
The first hour gets gone and still nothing happens.
"Is she actually gone?" Kayla asks Kayden.
"Sissy can't be."
At the other corner, doctor Minho is telling Mrs Violet about the nurse mother who breastfed the baby boy. Mrs Violet wonders who will actually get to feed the baby.
The nurses come and take away Karen's body while the family sit sadly at the private waiting room. Zara makes a call across to tell Zion about it. Praise feels so uncomfortable. Mr Andrews sits likes his every hope is lost. The whole atmosphere is a sad one.
Suddenly the rain stops and the clouds get clear and then it starts shining.
After twelve minutes, the nurses roll back a patient back into a private ward.
Mrs Violet sees what is going on from the glass door and she goes outside, wondering what is going on.
"They said a dead patient is alive and the nurses do not know how..." She hears a woman telling a younger lady.
Minho comes back with a little smile on her face.
"She sneezed. She is alive.." She breaks the news.
